Most of the owners in the league have lost around 40% of their net worth in the last 6 months. Also, prospects for revenue growth are nowhere near what they once were.

I don't think Chandler makes that large of a difference....
>:oPut this in your profile if your pissed that the Duke Lacrosse team didn't invite you to their party.

The Hornet are still a legit playoff team because Paul is a superstar.

I would have to say for this season specifically (eventhough a lot of the press is being given to the "why did NO give up Ty for free"), this trade actually benefits NO this year. Wilcox and Smith are both solid vets that, when utilized correctly, will provide VERY solid minutes. I'm definitely disappointed that this hurts NO's future, but as far as this season (when Chandler's poor performance and missed games are considered), this actually helps the Hornets reach their goal of advancing in the playoffs.

Hey, I was hoping Boston would have a chance to nab big Joe. I think this is a great trade for NO and gives you a chance to compete for a title this year. Pretty obvious that Chandler won't be a force this year, and may never have a season as good as last years. You now have a bench to match the Lakers.
I'll be rooting for you

This trade bolsters the depth of a wafer thin NO roster (Sean Marks is not only playing meaningful minutes of late - he actually started today...) but leaves them precariously short of a legitimate big men in a Western Conference playoff race where size is at a premium.
Chandler has obviously been injured for much of the season but he still represented the best the Hornets had to offer against the likes of Duncan, Yao and the tandems of Gasol/Bynum/Odom, Shaq/Amare, Aldridge/Oden, Okur/Boozer/Millsap etc.
Smith and Wilcox are decent NBA players who could definitely contribute on most contending teams, but with Tyson gone I can't see the Hornets challenging the size of the playoff teams out West.

Wilcox will be a stud in this system CP3 is a great P/G and Wilcox is in his contract year, he has something to prove and IMO he will thrive and put up solid numbers. Hes only 26, runs the floor and catches Alleys from guards who can deliver them . Hornets make big playoff push with West and Wilcox running shotgun with CP3

Do you seriously expect Paris Hilton to be able to handle all the monsters out West on his lonesome?
Bynum and Gasol will both average 20 + 20 if they face the Hornets in a Playoff series.

In case you havent noticed Bynum is done for the season and i would think after one practice Wilcox will be the starting center and when given minutes he produces; career 53% FG and only getting an average of 22 minutesper game. His legs are still young. remember when a player has never been on a good team that player gets a bad rap for being a bad player on a bad team so lets sit back and see how the stretch run plays out !

If you paid attention you'd notice that I never bagged out Wilcox, I just think they are really going to miss Chandler's length against the plethora of big men in the West.
And in case you haven't noticed, the Lakers brass still expect Bynum to return around the end of the regular season/first round.

Sounds suspiciously like what the Lakers brass said about Bynum last year. Kid has done nothing to make me believe he's a quick healer and I'll be shocked if he has any meaningful run in the playoffs. chandler is a tough inside player but a poor shooter. Don't think you were winning a championship with him anyway

In all fairness the Lakers seem a lot more optimistic about his recovery this year, but it is still early days.
