T-Mac for VC rumour

Post#1 » by aussienet » Tue Feb 17, 2009 11:00 pm

Hey guy's just heard this rumour and i thought I would share my thoughts with you all.
If it's true then good night to the season and good night until 2010. I know I said in a previos thread for us to get mcgrady but i didn't want to give up vc for him. He earns 21 mill this year and 23 mill next year. Prelude and vc4p if you werent' 1000% percent convinced about the amare trade 1.5 yr rental. then you probably just had a coronary over this. Silly trade and I don't wanna see it happen.
Here's what i think is happening.

Thorn has a better deal that another gm won't sign off on because, hey lets face it he ain't called the gm mugger for nothin. So he is using this trade scenario to make the gm pull the trigger. It's called old fashioned reverse phsycology.

Theory 2
The move to Brooklyn is finished. Ratner can't build his "field of dreams" so he is dumping salary and to save money. What's the bet we aqquire Mcgrady he is on the IR for the rest of the season. Then he has surgery performed by Allan Houston, Jayson Williams and Luc Longley (hey had to throw an aussie in there lol) surgeons. Get the hint. His knee will be rooted. And a nice little insurance policy comes our way. Saving Ratner from having to pay out any of the 23 mill owed to mcgrady.

Theory 3
Thorn has gone temporary insane and thinks T-MAC will actually help us go deep in the play-offs and be a great team player. Now i Know I said Vc is fools gold but T-Mac at this stage of his career is worth no more than the golden sparkles my 7 yr old daughters uses to decorate her artwork at school. I mean T-Mac not his contract.

Theory 4
This will actually help us free up salary and have some cash to splash in the FA season of 2010.

Thoughts?

Discuss?

Cheers

Yeah I have. You should try it. It will probably relieve your built up tension.

Longley was the man. I loved when he got pissed that Bogut hailed himself as the best Australian basketball player ever.

Only reason I lost it for Amare was because I didn't think giving up young talent for a 1.5 year rental was a smart thing. If it was "Vince for Amare" then that's a whole other topic, just like Vince for TMac is different than the initial talks. Personally, I never really cared about Tmac. I'm so damn jaded right now I really don't care anymore. I'm holding any judgement I have until an actual trade is signed by Rod.

Sounds like TMac is finally done for the season and will consider MF surgery. That should likely kill any more talks of VC for TMac.

Yeah I saw that. It's a shame. Basically Houston is gonna be stuck with him now so they're just gonna tread water for the next year and a half. Someone may go after his contract next deadline though but I don't know, he may not even be healthy by then. You usually need close to a year to recover fully from MF surgery.

I don't know. I don't trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and doesn't die.

With T-Mac down for the season, I doubt Thorn trades for a guy who won't play and won't cut.

on topic, kind of at least...w. Tracy out for the season...I think all time, VC > Tmac is settled...no brainer?...who knows if Tmac can ever come back from the sort of surgery, rehab or whatever he needs to get himself on a basketball court...In the fam, Vince will go down as the warrior...I was always a Tmac fan, but his durability may and probably will put him behind a lot of players for his career in the NBA... with Vince at his age, showing where he can take his game...u gotta tip your hat to this guy at 32yrs of age...Tmac pushing 30 is looking older and less accomplished...and probably really frustrated, putting himself out for the season...I hope he can regain his form ASAP...its disappointing not being able to watch his talent on the court, due to injury...

I followed McGrady for a full season (05/06) when Swift was there...

I was really really disappointed with McGrady and the way he handled that season. He personally recruited Swift to go to Houston as a free agent below his market value but when Swift and Van Dummy butted heads McGrady didn't utter so much as a peep in Swift's defense.

He chose to be totally loyal to Van Dummy, so I feel like he's gotten what he's paid for, so to speak. He's a great player but I feel he stabbed Swift right in the back.

I've never seen a person bust out so many articles from a few years ago on one particular player in my life.

LOL at calling Van Gundy, Van Dummy, yet defending a bench riding scrub.
