I'm not much of a reader, but Williams seems to beat him in every area, except OPER at PF.

If PER is equal to (OPER+DPER)/2 which I'm not sure if it is, I know jack-all about PER, then Young beats Williams 16.9 to 16.1 on DPER, but is pace considered in that? I don't know. I just assume Atlanta plays at a faster pace than Philly.

Also, if that's the equation, then it tells me that Williams PF DPER is OFF THE CHARTS.

OPER is Opponent's PER. I was just too lazy to spell it out. Sorry.

Edit: And just so you know, PER is made so that 15 is always the league average. So, Young holds is opponents to under the league average of production when he's playing SF, and Williams never holds his opponent under the average. His offensive game, though, at PF makes up for it.

I know that PER is adjusted for minutes, but I'm not sure if it's adjusted for pace. If anyone else knows, I would appreciate an answer.

But other than defending SF's, Williams beats him in every catagory.

But at the same time isn't Calvin Booth's PER like 39 or some obscene number? I guess I just have a hard time using formulas to decide the value of a player. As an old fashioned coach, I like to judge them by eye.

It comes down to, would we rather pay Williams as a free agent, probably around 8mil a year, or take on Dally at 12mil a year to get Thad on his rookie contract? I see negatives and positives in both situations.

I'm torn.

Of course, what would we have to give up to get the two as well? Thad seems more untouchable than Williams does in the sense that we'd have to load up a package to get Thad from Philly, while Williams is get-able by just moving Miller/Cardinal for an expiring.

philly will not include thad in a trade to minnesota.

posters here are way more obsessed with marvin williams than they should be. he's shockingly average.

don't put too many eggs in your "CORY BREWER RETURNS!" basket. he's wasn't good before he got hurt, and he probably won't be in the future.

He made solid improvements before his injury. His confidence appeared better, his shooting was much better and his turnovers were lower. I am excited to see him as a 20+ rotation healthy player. Maybe he will only be statistically average but I think he is a positive part of the team.
