Leach has two years left on his deal. Tech offers him an extension. Money is fine, but:
- Only 12% would be owed if he's fired
- The buyout goes from $500k to $1.5 million
- He would need permission to speak to any other school
- Tech gets money for any speaking engagements Leach participates in
All are basically BS and unreasonable. Leach turned it down. So now Tech is considering firing him.
He's got two years left on his deal, Tech offers a crummy extension and Leach say, 'No thanks, I'll finish my current deal', so Tech is looking to can him.
What a joke.

Re: OT: Texas Tech and Mike Leach
I thought I heard something about their being a monetary penalty for interviewing for another job. I don't remember what I heard the number was, but it was significant, like 6 or 7 figures.

The provision that bothers Leach most is one that would trigger his firing and a $1.5 million penalty if he interviews for another job without athletic director Gerald Myers' permission. Leach's current deal has no such restriction.
