Bobcats Want Portland To Sweeten Offer For Wallace
The Blazers are still attempting to come up with a trade package for Gerald Wallace after the Bobcats turned down an preliminary Raef LaFrentz for Wallace offer earlier Wednesday.
The Bobcats are attempting to entice the Blazers to take back Nazr Mohammed or include Nicolas Batum into a deal.

why would the bobcats take lafrentz. I know about his expiring contract but the blazers are loaded with young talents. They need to get something back in return

i think sergio rodriguez would be included in that deal, and i think espn talked about nicholas batum there too. that would be a sweet deal for portland, and if charlotte can get a pick out of it i think it would be decent deal. i don't think wallace has much desire to stay there.

Because the Bobcats don't make a lot of money.
Some teams need money more than others, if Larry Brown has decided that Wallace isn't the right guy for his team and the FO wants to get out of an 8 figure deal, they'd pull the trigger. If Portland wants Wallace but not bad enough to give up a player, and they know the Cats are financially weak, why not just wait it out?
For fans its a lot easier to say that you shouldn't give up talent for an expiring contract, but fans aren't in charge of the ledger.
