Celtics interested in Nocioni?

Dave - Boston: Celtics get anything done?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (12:09 PM ET ) We keep hearing all morning that the Celtics were talking to the Kings about a deal for Nocioni. The Kings can move him again as long as they don't package him with other players on their roster. The Celtics would send back Scalabrine, Tony Allen, Glen Davis and Patrick O'Bryant. However, a Celtics source says there's nothing happening there. A Kings source, however, says it would be a possibility. I wonder why the Celtics WOULDN'T do that. Nocioni would be a great piece for them.

I don`t believe it. There is no way we take on Nocioni`s contract.

Atleast Noc's $$$ goes down each year. I have mixed feelings about this one.

SAC has 15 players on the roster they can`t make a 4-1 trade...it doesn`t make sense...

No WAY. Horrible trade for us. We will end up with only 12 players and no depth whatsoever. If any big misses a game, we'd be absolutely screwed.

James Posey / Andres Nocioni

$5,585,000 / $8,000,000

$6,031,800 / $7,500,000

$6,478,600 / $6,850,000

$6,925,400 / $6,650,000

Interesting comparison?

We go from having depth at the 2 and 4 but not the 3, to having depth at the 3 but not the 2 and 4. It's only worth doing if Joe Smith and Marbury are sure things.

(9:36 a.m.)

I just got off the phone with Andres Nocioni. As I'd been told, he came off as a very affable guy. In short, he says he's packing in Chicago and waiting for his flight directions from the Kings. There has been some question from folks around the league as to whether the Kings would move Nocioni before today's deadline, but it's looking like he's here to stay. Things can always change and sources around the league say quite a few teams have interest - and, yes, that includes Boston (a comment below alluded to it) - but the Kings seem to really like what he can add.

My concern would also be the length of the deal. However, Nocioni is three years younger.

This is a successful trade on the ESPN NBA Trade Machine.

Scalabrine, House, Davis and Giddens (or Walker) for Nocioni.

Nocioni can play both forward positions, so you've your back up to Pierce and Garnett. And you still have Powe and this move makes the decision to sign him to extension easier. House can opt out after this season. So, the real question is: Who do you value more. Walker or Giddens?

Adam (Medford, MA): Any updates on the Celtics and Nocioni? Or anyone? Does Danny manage another amazing deal?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:02 PM ET ) I don't think so. Celtics insist they aren't trading for Nocioni. Interesting because i think the Kings would do the deal.

Yeah not bad except we may have to guard Shaq, Z with Perk's 6 fouls. We need another big and Joe Smith is not a big.

O'Bryant's salary isn't guaranteed for next season so he could be bought out. Tony's done for the regular season and the Kings aren't making the playoffs. So, Tony wouldn't play this season for them at all. Davis is an expiring contract. Then all you're left with is an expiring contract for next season in Scalabrine. Yeah, an awful trade for Sacramento. I can't imagine they'll want to rid themselves of Nocioni's salary that bad. My trade offer at least still leaves you with Giddens or Walker and House if he agrees to the trade and decides to sign an extension with them.
