Miki Moore waived!

Post#1 » by BillessuR6 » Thu Feb 19, 2009 9:11 pm

From SAC board:

Mikki Moore, driving to the airport as we blog...

"I found out (he was cut) about 15 minutes ago. I'm on my way to the airport now. I'm just going to say goodbye to my teammates, say goodbye to coach (Kenny) Natt and tell everybody thank you for being true to me. And then I'm going to go to the office and sign papers.

His feelings on leaving Sacramento

"It's both ways. I'm kind of glad that I'm leaving Sacramento because I thought that I was going to make a home here. Especially after having a good season in New Jersey, I thought that they wanted me and needed me here. So I was looking forward to retiring here, but it just didn't work out that way.
"(But) these are the last years of my career, so I've got to get somewhere where I'm wanted. I'm looking forward to doing something."

I like him. He can hit a mid range jumper. He has length.

Too bad we couldn`t free up another roster spot...

If true that is a huge salary dump by the Kings. Very surprised. i think he has two years left after this one. Strange.

I'm all for bringing in Mikki Moore. Sign him now and see what else happens for people being released. Can always somebody else if you have to make room for Smith/Marbury/whoever.

Wow if we cant get starbury i would not be opposed to signing him and Joe Smith. He is actually a decent backup center.

I didn't think he could hit a close by jumper, i remember his points coming from put backs.

That guy should be running to Dallas and Jason Kidd, I'd like to see him here if he wants to come back East though.

Marc Stein says:

• I'm also told that Sacramento will be releasing Mikki Moore after the Kings were unable to include him in any trades before the deadline. Given the leaguewide need for big men, there figures to be a fair bit of interest in Moore once he clears waivers. Expectation is high that he will wind up in Boston, reports ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

All the talks Ainge has been having with the kings this wouldn't surprise me. I know Moore is a free agent but he has been to Boston before.

hmmm, maybe that was the connection with the Sacramento deals, we sent the extra cash and they used it to buy out Moore and gave us first dibs on him.

Everyone getting bought out has the expectation of going to Boston it seems. I like Smith better than Moore, but Moore is a banger. I think he might duplicate Powe and Big Baby a little too much.

I really wanted to see Sam Cassell, Mikki Moore, and Shelden Williams on the court together.

Definately interesting... and would make sense with all the small trading going on with Sacramento involving Cash

So... if he wants to come here, and so does Steph, and so does Joe...

Do you sign him up straight away and run the risk of not having a spot if the other 2 shake free? Or do you wait and run the risk of missing out on both to try and get the 2 better players?

Totally unanticipated by the rumor mill- wasn't Moore an MLE signing? Hoopshype had him making roughly 6 mill this season and next. Makes you wonder who else might get waived or bought out..makes our two trades that much smarter.

Reportedly he's already been waived. Moore's not skilled, but he's a high energy guy that would help in Boston. He's a good fit.

If he can defend and hit a mid-range jumpshot, he's this year's P.J. Brown.

Return to Boston Celtics
