What Will Happen

Post#1 » by Ricky_is_god » Thu Feb 19, 2009 10:30 pm

I think that in an effort to screw Steph, the Knicks will release him, but after March 1st. Which is such a **** thing to do, but I have to appreciate it's cruelty. I think Danny knows that and realizes Steph isn't an option. Hopefully he thinks that Pruitt and House, any maybe a little bit of Giddens can handle the back court minutes till tony comes back. So he focused on the front court. I think we will sign both Moore and Joe Smith. Moore obviously had some kind of wink wink deal with the C's, why would the Kings make two trades in 3 days just to give us roster room? and us the money to buy him out? And I do think Smith will get bought out, and I hope he decides to Come here. If these deals go through, look at front court from two days ago to then.

I also think they might offer the vet min to Moore.. and Smith when he gets bought out

If Marbury is free before the 1st maybe they jsut release moore again?

Normally it's pretty common to waive somebody between the deadline and end of February, if no deal could be made... I think keeping a veteran on the roster even though he is banned from the team is not classy at all.

Another good point, would have been nice to know all 3 were available before the deadline so we could have traded gabe or jr for something and cleared another spot

Perkins/Moore/Davis
Garnett/Smith/Powe
Pierce/Scal/Walker
Allen/House/Giddens/Allen (IR)
Rondo/Marbury

Looks amazing considering the position we have been in

Make a play for both Moore and Smith, then if Marbury gets cut release someone. Moore ideally.

If New York really doesn't release Steph until after March 1st just to spite him I hope the Players Unions goes Nuts and files a grievance....

It sucks because a normal team who did that to one of their players free agents for years would try and avoid that team, but because its New York and there so many benefits to playing in New York that wont happen and they'll probably get Lebron anyways....

I hope behind the scenes somewhere this is actually upsetting the star players that NYK hopes to acquire (Lebron, Wade, Bosh, etc). This is a terrible way of doing business and I hope it will eventually bite them in the ass.

Why should the Knicks do Marbury a favor and waive him for virtually no buyout so he can go and win a championship on a rival team? Marbury has been holding the Knicks hostage since he arrived in NY and has been a cancer to the team. Do you think that the Knicks owe him any favors? You guys have no idea what you are talking about.

How has he been holding the Knicks hostage? Has he been an idiot on many occasions? Yes. But he was very ready to go this year and they did anything they could to keep him from seeing the floor until they absolutely needed him to play after their first major trade. I would be pissed if I was Steph too. It is clear both sides need to give in a little and just get a buyout over with.

yeah if this was last season i would think twice, but the attitude and fitness Steph came into the season with was great, and the knicks refused to put him on the court

if they take the 1 million buy out, save a million on tax, and he backs off appealling the 400k fine thats 2.4 mil, nothing to the knicks maybe... but still a saving, if they dont then its just out of spite and really a disgraceful move

Why is Marbury so cheap? He's been paid millions this year for doing nothing. Why not give back 3 or 4 million just to get on with his life?

a contract goes two ways, and the knicks decided to make him feel unwelcome. and if knicks fans want to act like it wasnt their entire team that was dysfunctional thats their choice.

marbury has his issues yeah, but its not like hes in the stable environment of say san antonio, cleveland or boston amd is the only one acting out.

i wouldnt give up my money if i was under contract either, i actually respect marbury's principles in this case

Moore and Smith sound like excellent options to me, I heard Moore is getting ready to be bought out. The PG situation doesn't bother me this year like it did last year, I think we can handle it with the PG's we have. Then again I'll have nightmares about Eddie House dribbling the ball up court. I'm equally as horrified seeing Pruitt get more minutes in the playoffs b/c he might be the better ball handler, but he's so inexpereinced. There has got to be other PG options out there other than the iffy Marbury buyout. I don't know why but I'm hesitant to waive, I just think he's got a lot potential. People were probably wrong in saying he will be the next Delonte West when we drafted him.

Have to figure the players union will file a grievance, if nyk doesn't give marbury a buyout... NYK will basically eat $2.4 million and whatever the grievance costs...

Boston should just go ahead and sign Moore, and if Smith & Marbury get bought out, then cut someone.

Before the season even started, Marbury said that he would not come off the bench if he was asked to do so. So he got benched, and rightfully so. He also has been a team cancer, and other players can't stand him. So him being benched was good for team morale. As for a buyout, Marbury offered to give back $1 million briefly and then rescinded that. Do you think that he showed he was willing to give in a little? LOL. And with all of this, on the court, Marbury typically hurt the Knicks more than he helped them with his selfish play. He was a dark cloud over the Knicks his whole time in NY and it is no coincidence that every team he leaves gets immediately better. Walsh needs to send a message to Marbury and others like him by not caving to him.
