Delonte and Sasha both certainly do help with the lakers size. They can both do a good enough job on Kobe to let LeBron be our 4th big. We lost the 2nd game against the lakers in the 3rd quarter when Andy/Boobie went in for Ben/Z. With Andy on Gasol and LeBron on Kobe, we had nobody left who could guard Odom, who scored 7 points in the next 1:20. With LeBron on him, that just doesn't happen.

Hmm, I got Camby's salary from here:

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/la_clippers.htm

which was accurate, but I see from here

That his cap number is $10 million because of a bonus from last year. So we'd need to add something small to make it work. Kinsey or Wright should do the trick. We certainly don't need more players coming from the clippers to make it work.

We definitely need to add a big, preferably a staring PF, because as of late Big Ben isn't cuttin' it.

With the news that the NBA salary cap is decreasing, and the fact that we will probably look to keep Varejao (assuming he opts-out), I think we can almost kiss any chance of us signing a max-contract free agent good-bye.

IMO this changes our strategy moving forward.

Yes, we may not NEED a move to compete for a title this year, but Snow and Wally are 2 very good ways of adding key parts for 2010...when Bron has to decide on his future. If we just continue to stick with our current team, I don't know how appealing that will be to LeBron. I wouldn't mind us going after someone like Jamison. I think he could make some sense.

This is exactly right. Z and Ben might be enough THIS year, but next year when Lebron is deciding to resign he won't see much upside in the front court other than JJ (Andy is a wildcard being unrestricted with Fegan, we could easily lose him)

We need to make a move for another big man who can score and preferably one young enough to be part of the core. Ferry has to think past this year with his moves.

I know...and as crazy as it sounds (especially considering your user name) I would make a run at Carlos Boozer. I would do that for 3 reasons...

1. He could help us this year once he gets healthy. He is supposed to be close to returning.

2. He will only be 28 years old when LeBron has to decide on what he wants to do, thus making him part of our core group.

3. We would almost certainly be able to re-sign him in the off-season since we would have his Bird rights and Miami is no longer an option, with JO being there. The only other teams that have cap-space to sign a max-contract player would be Memphis, Oklahoma City, and Detroit. Detroit would be our main competition but they are a mess now and will he a well-below average team once Sheed and Iverson leave. There is no way Boozer takes less money to go play for Detroit.

I know there are still hurt feelings over the whole Boozer thing, but honestly, he would be a perfect piece for our team moving forward. He would make us the favorite for a championship this year and be young enough for us to build with him. A "Big-3" of LeBron-Boozer-Mo would be great.

We're a contender that needs just one more piece to win it all, we have great expirings and we're not making any moves! This is terrible and highly disappointing. I've waited for those expirings whole year long.

Here is a quote from a GM in an article I read on ESPN about the current trade market....

"If no one is willing to take back contracts that extend beyond the summer of 2010, not much is happening this week," another executive said. "However, if you're a GM that has an owner willing to spend, you're going to hit the jackpot this week. There are a lot of deals to be had if you're willing to take back salary. The problem is, those owners seem to be few and far between."

We all know that Gilbert is willing to spend, and we are just 1 piece away from a possible NBA Title (and the extra revenue that would provide) so I really hope that we can get something done. It would be a shame to see all of those expiring contracts go to waste.

I can't believe you guys didn't move Wally. WOW, did Danny Ferry blow that one!! Celtic fans everywhere will be celebrating tonight!!

There is just no excuse for not getting that done, you easiliy could have cashed in a dollar with Wally's 10 cents. I mean, you could of had Shaq for Wally. Shaq!!! or RJ, or Vince... WOW, just wow. This non-move just sealed your franchises fate for years to come.

The Cavs have no one capable of starting at the 4, an EXTREMELY undersized backcourt rotation, no backup center, no premier wing defender, and no low post presence. It would have been nice to solve one of these problems. :(

Stick to rooting for Boston, okay? Because you obviously have NO clue what you're talking about.

It is amazing that a team with all those problems is on pace to win 64 to 65 games. We are 24-4 with a healthy starting 5.

Delonte is 6'4" and plays great defense...how tall is Wade?
We have a premier wing defender, name is Lebron James

mmm K..

sure, i mean who would want Shaq for Wally and Pavs right? That's crazy, only a team with a thin front line trying to win a title with a 2 year window would do something like that. Oh wait...

very profound arguement. I can see you spent some time pondering the subject, I guess f*** you is all that's left when you have nothing to counter my points with.

No because I don't feel like wasting my time with someone who obviously has nothing better to do than to argue with Cavs fans, about which you know nothing about and don't seem like changing your no matter what is said.

how would that help? and it was wallace and pavs for shaq. shaq does not solve the power forward situation - he just makes the center spot more cluttered...it would have caused more problems than it would have solved

but continue to embarrass yourself - you're doing a good job
