Joe Smith to go to Boston if he gets a buy-out

Post#1 » by DowJones » Thu Feb 19, 2009 6:33 am

This is from ESPN.

I like Joe, and I would love to have him in Cleveland, but his addition will be EXTREMELY overrated to either Boston or Cleveland. He is just an extra body to play 10-15 minutes per game, imo.

The good news about Joe in Boston is that it will take away from guys like Powe or Davis getting time against us.. Now, Joe might be more talented than either of those guys with the jump shot, but both of those guys are more active around the basket, and that kills us more than what a Joe Smith would bring...

I would rather have Powe or Big Baby over Joe to be honest... Those guys are scrappy and hustle... I have no idea why Boston fans rip on them all time ??

I'll kidnap him too. I live in Canada so we can go lie low in the Yukon for a while where they won't be able to find us.

I know it's not the same but if Joe goes to Boston and if Mikki Moore gets bought out maybe we could sign him for cheap... I know its not the same, but we at least need some bigs depth

Mikki is soft, but I think he might be a decent fit if he gets bought out. I like his length.

Cavs can offer a good chunk of money to Joe Smith if he gets cut. They still have their MLE, right? It's either Boston for less $$ or Cavs for more $$ (plus he seemed to enjoy himself last year).

On cleveland.com there is an article that indicates Joe would consider signing with us again.

So at least we would have a chance.

I think Ferry will sign Mikki, Joe, or another big for depth...not too worried. It just better NOT be Drew Gooden haha. The Cavs still have their entire MLE to play with too. Whoever they sign will be the 4th big anyway but at least they won't have to rely on a rookie like Hickson in the playoffs.

I think we have at LEAST a 50/50 shot at signing Joe. Him and Mo are good friends, and we have 5+million to throw at him if need be.

I didn't know him and Mo were friends. Ineteresting. How awkward that trade must have been for them.

Everyone keeps saying KG and Joe are tight, but when Joe was interviewed on WTAM when he was here, he said he would have loved to have been here and play with Mo, because Mo was his closest friend in the league..

Didn't know that. I love all the Smith to Boston for sure articles. He already said Cleveland was where he wants to be. I can't wait to see Celtics fans squirm when they are looking at Mikki Moore and Marbury with an injured KG to boot. Can't f-in wait.

Would probably be best if he just came here, I dunno about you two guys but I don't wanna be in the Yukon in February/March... it's already cold as hell down here in Ottawa.

According to the wiretap, Joe isn't seeking a buyout. Mikki Moore come on down
