Boston interested in Jason "White Chocolate" Williams?

Post#1 » by Celtic Esquire » Fri Feb 20, 2009 1:12 am

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but this columnist seems to think that Boston would be interested in signing J-Will if his petition for reinstatement is granted.

If the NBA’s Board of Governors approves his petition, which was sent to the league’s 30 teams on Wednesday, Williams could become a productive free agent for contenders needing point guard depth. League executives immediately speculated that Williams could return to the Miami Heat, who he helped win the 2006 NBA championship, or the defending champion Boston Celtics.

Interesting..though it seems we are just being linked to every free agent now

I still think we can get Stephon, who is a much better option then Williams IMO

He is actually a very good pg on the offensive end, he is a great assist to TO guy and a very good 3pt shooter but he can't guard anyone so it would make it difficult to play him long mins especially with Eddie.

I would much rather see Stephon Marbury playing for Celtics rather than Jason Williams. I think if they have a shot at signing the best guard available then they should do so if provided the opportunity.

Now there's a wild card. Can't say I love his game myself, but I do very well with him in NBA live 08.

I think when it comes to defense we need to focus more on the low-post. Hopefully, a center/power forward will be waived whom the Celtics can sign in order to fill this need which has been missing since the departure of Posey and Brown.

i'll take this dude over marbury any day. he'd be the perfect backup for rondo. don't underestimate this guy, he's got a bigger heart then marbury and his game is still nice.

On July 1 Doc Rivers offered J-Will a minimum contract to join the Celtics,
without any guarantees.

I think that J-Will signed with the Clips for minimum because he was led to believe
that he would back up Baron Davis;

worked out with the team before training camp,

and found out nothing was guaranteed, that he would have to fight for minutes,
just like he would have with the Celtics.

Six weeks after signing his Clippers contract, J-Will put in retirement papers,
claiming some injury.

I think he figured if nothing was guaranteed, that he could have gone to the
Celtics (or Miami or Orlando).

Anyway, the Clips accepted his retirement papers, making him a free agent,
freeing a roster spot, and not having to pay him a dime.

I think Orlando, the Lakers and Miami are potential threats to sign him.
The Celtics would probably have wanted to dump Giddens for a pick.

Right now, it looks like Mikki Moore, Joe Smith and Steph may be bought out.

You gotta figure that either Moore or Smith will end up in Boston,
and Steph would be a perfect fit to win Championship 18.

Wonder if hes in game shape... Steph, you know would still be workin hard as he knows he was always going to play again.. but JWill, did he 'retire' and just take it easy for a while? could be an issue

If we can`t get Marbury and he is healthy then I would be interested. We need a back up PG...

Exactly! At least Marbury is an a-hole with talent. J-Williams is just an a-hole.
