Free agent negotiations

Post#1 » by tontoz » Thu Nov 27, 2008 3:27 pm

Marvin Williams will be a restricted free agent on July 1. My belief is that the Hawks are unable to negotiate with him until that time. am i correct?

Someone else on the Hawks board thinks we are free to negotiate whenever we want.
Thank God we didn't draft the Fat Matador.

To the best of my knowledge, the team can negotiate with him whenever they want given that the player is currently on their team. Most often though players choose not to distract themselves with contract extensions during the year and prefer to wait. This is actually a question that might be best answered on SportsAgentBlog.com. The site has basically any information you could possibly want about negotiating or gives you the opportunity to ask. The guy who runs it also is CEO of Dynasty Athlete Representation. Their newest video can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWW1pQEaIXE

I know we've long past its best-before date, but damn that would have been a spectacular rickroll.
