And their chance to repeat. The celtics cannot afford any more losses because the cavs have a much easier schedule the rest of the season. Witout KG they will not beat the Suns or the Nuggerts. Meanwhile the cavs play detroit and memphis the next 2 games. Then they play the spurs without Manu and the Rockets without T-mac.

I don't think the two seed is all that bad. We get the Magic in the second round. And let the Cavs deal with the Hawks this year.

you simply cannot fire a mascot named "Lucky" in the middle of a Championship season.

I'm hearing rumors about 4 weeks, but they may do more tests. Any news on your end?
This makes the Cavs inability to trade their expirings and add talent even more of a failure. How soon can you add Joe Smith?

Am I missing something? Is the bad news the fact that he is getting an MRI? Its not like they provided the results of the MRI or anything...It is just a precaution taken just to make sure everything is fine...we did not lose home court...there is still a half of a season to go...so much can happen...

March 1st is the key date. Any player who is waived before this date and is signed by a team prior to March 1st is eligible for the playoffs. Any player who is signed after this date is ineligible for the playoffs according to NBA rules. So the Celtics will have to hope Joe Smith will be waived before the March 1st deadline so he can play in the playoffs.

I was under the impression that an MRI is a routine exam in professional sports when it comes to any kind of issue involving the knee, including a sprained knee.

LOL but honestly I think were overeacting, he could be out the whole season but he could also be out 3 games, lets wait and see.

Re: MRI for KG
Unless someone has heard the MRI results, I must be missing something too. As soon as we heard it was a possible knee strain we knew he would end up getting xrays and and MRI and what not. You have to make sure it isn't a serious issue to know how to handle the injury.

Re: MRI for KG
Guys, chill...an MRI is routine. It may be nothing, it may be something. There is nothing to say Cleveland won't have a hiccup or get an injury...let's just wait and see!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Re: MRI for KG
Ainge told Jackie MacMullan Garnett is staying in Boston for the rest of the road trip (next three games).
Lucky had to be fired because Lucky doesn't take taxis.
No the season isn't over and homecourt isn't necessarily lost. They were 9-2 without Garnett last season. If it's something he can recover from, it's just a bump in the road.
Now breathe... and wait... breathe and wait.

Re: MRI for KG
Agreed...and what would you rather have, KG injured now so we get HCA and lose him for the playoffs? Or rest him and have to win a few roadies in the playoffs WITH him? I know which one I'd choose!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Re: MRI for KG
As far as March 1 goes that is the date a player has to be waived by to be eligible for the postseason, he can be signed at any time prior to when playoff rosters are set.
Nothing good about the big fella's knee hurting but at least it sounds like he could play through it if he had to.

Yup...which means with a little rest, he should be fine. Reminds me of last year's abdominal strain...
