Feb. 20: Atlanta @ Portland

Post#1 » by JoshB914 » Sat Feb 21, 2009 1:49 am

If we can just get one win over the rest of this road trip I'll be satisfied. Tonight is probably our best chance to do that.

Let me start by saying welcome back, Flip, I missed you.

Portland is favored by 4.5 and the o/u is 192. The game opened at 5 and o/u of 195, so the movement shows that the action has been thinking the same way as me (bet under till we prove we can shoot). However, the line has been adjusting as well so I'm going to brave the other side and take the over. I don't feel confident enough in the team to bet the outcome (if actually bet, this in for entertainment purposes only). Historically we've had problems closing out Portland so I have my doubts that tonight will go well.

Last years loss in Portland was the low point of the season. We blew a 19-point lead in the 2nd half and finally lost the lead when Joe fouled Roy shooting a jumper with a few seconds left.

Does Woodson's time-out designed plays for the final seconds of any period ever work? I mean wouldn't any prayer have as good of odds without spending a timeout?

This has been an excellent game, but Portland's performance on the glass has me scared.

NOOOOOOOO! A foul from behind on a desperation hurl from 3 pt range? That sucks.

Blake misses 2 of the 3 FTs. That's as much of a reprieve as we could hope for on that.

We just shot 50% in the first half, yet only scored 48 points, and are trailing by two at the break. This team is really something.

The Hawks have an amazing habit of allowing the other team to somehow get a shot off when we have the ball with no shot clock. They just don't do the little things well enough to beat quality teams on the road.

They barely do things to beat crappy teams (Kings) on the road. When will Josh learn to stop taking jump shots?! In the first half when we didnt iso Joe the offense was running so smooth!

The 3rd quarter dry spell . . . that was so predictable.

Mo with the stupid foul to end the half, and then he loses track of Rudy for an easy layup at the end of the third.

Watching the Blazers just tap the ball around repeatedly while the Hawks just stand there is tough to watch.

Its like the Blazers are playing hot potato on the offensive end while the Hawks just stare at them. Its unreal.

Good job by Mo to play 15 feet off Fernandez as if he isn't a shooter.

Mo is hurting us right now. Why are we overplaying Roy?!

It's amazing how much better Brandon Roy is than Joe. He has made major progress every year, and now he's become a complete 2.

It was so frustrating to watch B Roy take over the game and push Portland over the top while Joe was still MIA. Bibby can't carry this team for four quarters, we need Joe to step it up
