We should waive Tony Allen
He's been useless ever since we became a winning team. Plus he's become so injured prone. Lets bring in a player who can actually play small forward and shooting guard effectively. Everytime he's in the game he makes some dumb mistake that even rookies don't make.

We have 2 open roster spots. There's no need for a 3rd one. If TA comes back healthy for the playoffs, which he should, he is still going to be useful.

The way I see it we have our all star small forward/shooting guards (Paul & Ray) and our promising replacements (B.Walker & Giddens). What we are missing is a solid veteran backup who knows his role and does it effectively.

You're hilarious. Those short-tempered threads are both an annoyance and already a RGM classic for me

Regarding the thread: No, Tony will be a very good contract next year. You don't waive assets.

And who's out there that we can pick up who can do that? The only name I can think of is Bonzi, but he didn't really fulfill his role that effectively because New Orleans didn't resign him and he hasn't gotten a contract in the NBA so far...and he'll have the same problems as TA because he has no outside shot either.

Tony is injury and turnover prone. He's still a plus defender.
OTOH, my wife says dump him, he does no good, he's junk, and she's a lot smarter than me.
We don't waive him though.

Sign J.Smith, A.Walker and Marbury
and we are ready to roll. House can play shooting guard alongside Marbury.

Thanks...I think.
I know people are going to say that Antoine isn't the answer, but he seems like the most logical choice for cheap.
Perkins/J.Smith/Powe
KG/Baby/Scala
Pierce/A.Walker/B.Walker
R.Allen/House/Giddens
Rondo/Marbury/Pruitt

Sorry but not buying that one. He's an average defender who at times can be a plus defender. He's been a huge disappointment in this area.

Another thing that bothers me about Tony is his feeling bad for himself. Not only does he make mistakes he hangs his head down and doesn't try hard on the next play.

I have no use for Allen anymore. I was never a big fan, and he slowly won me over for a brief time, but now, what is the point really? He is always hurt, and he makes boneheaded plays more often than not.

Re: We should waive Tony Allen
Tony Allen in the only player on Celtics I have no trust in his game...once good, other times garbage, stupid fouls, turnovers and the most important think: He destroys our 2 team rotation because Doc always puts House on pg when Tony is in.
If we get Marbury Im ok with Tony coming back, because Doc has no other option than to play Marbury/House/Tony and I can live with tony in sf spot (no handling the ball, just slashing).

Re: We should waive Tony Allen
Scal and Tony can get us a great role player (MLE price tag) next year.
I agree that Tony won't help us anymore this season and that he's a big disappointment. But he's worth more than a roster spot.

If Tony is declared out for the rest of the season due to injury, could the Celtics petition the league to fill his spot with another player?

Re: We should waive Tony Allen
yeah, Tony has been a big dissapointment, but cut him? I'm with Mahoney, next year at the trade deadline he and Scal put us in decent position to land a good roleplayer. Either way, we have 2 open roster spots now so there's no reason to just part ways for nothing. It's a shame, Tony showed so much promise at times, but just doesn't seem to have the BBIQ needed to become a real contributor. I'd really like to see Giddens get some minutes, he was an excellent defender and rebounder in college, has a better outside shot than Tony, and is longer. But inexperience is inexperience I guess.

Re: We should waive Tony Allen
Also, CFan, Walker is so beyond done. Break up with the idea, seek therapy, get a hooker, whatever it takes man. He was a good player when he was here, it's been a steep downhill slide into over-weight, 3 point chucking obscurity ever since. There is a reason he hasn't seen the floor in 2 years, and it has nothing to do with youth movements of the teams he is on, it's that he just isn't good anymore. He could fill POB's role of keeping a chair from floating off into space on this team, that is about it. He's done, done, done. Did I mention that he is done? Or that he is finished? Kaput? He and the court have parted ways? He has replaced the basketball with the cheese burger? Done I say, DONE!! Did I mention......DONE!?

Im sick of Tony as well.... however I dont think it looks good on the team to have a guy who has just had surgery waived.
