Can Odom win Sixth Man of the Year?

Post#1 » by dingclancy » Sat Feb 21, 2009 4:43 pm

I am not sure how they qualify what is a 6-man or not but I think if he continues to play this way with Bynum out you can combine it with his performance from the bench in the first half of the season and say that he is the sixth man of the year. It is not his fault a starter is injured.

I think you should be in a winning to be considered.

Yes he can, even if he starts all the games that are left he'd be eligible for the award.

You have to have started less than 50% of the games you played to qualify, and Odom has started 42 games off the bench this season already.

If he keeps this production up, he should get it easily IMO.

If he does get it, it'd be undeserved. He did not play well coming off the bench. He is playing well starting. So why should he get the 6 man award even if his stats go through the roof?

Yeah technically he's eligible but he's getting starter minutes, it wouldn't be fair to me if he won it......
I'm so tired of the typical......

He won't get it. It's not like a computer figures out who should be 6th man of the year. Reporters and media people know that his numbers jumped when he became a starter.

I don't see why Odom shouldn't win it. Without doubt he should be a top candidate.

Ginobili played starters minutes and had a starter's type of important role when he won it.

Plus Odom was great even off the bench.. I do not know who else is deserving.

he's not playing sixth man minutes right now, but he is playing totally awesome right now. Besides, he wasn't doing that well while on the bench... but i hope he keeps this up regardless. I'm for him getting the sixth man award but i doubt he'll get it..

How about the "Best Starter that Came off the Bench due to Injury" Award?

He deserves it. Lamar was playing well off the bench before Bynum got hurt & now that makes him a bench player filling in. So when he goes back to the bench if he keeps up his performance, I don't see who else deserves it.

Something tells me that if Jason Terry hadn't gotten injured he would have been the clear cut favorite.

I'm not opposed to Lamar getting the award, I just don't see how his great performances as a starter qualifies him for an award that rewards the best bench player in the league.
