B+ Isn't it a great feeling going to a trade deadline not needing to make a panicked trade - or hoping for some kind of miracle trade that will help the team NOW. I don't know about you guys but for me the trade dead line has always seemed to have a do or die aura about it - not this year. We are "farting through silk" my friends.

I was worried about the beating Love was going to have to take - problem solved.
Ditto for Bassy... and both of them get a little audition as well... If Williams ends up as a better version of Richard i'll be happy - and looking at Brown's game logs he looks like a potential diamond in the rough - he just needs some burn -

Question - are we fighting for lottery position now?... As long as we keep beating teams like Miami, Philly, Bos, and Utah i am happy with losses...

Here's some initial ideas for our $3 mil in cap space:

WAS: These guys are already at $5 mil over the lux, and when they add their pick, it will be around $8 mil. Their owner put money down on Antawn Jamison, but he thought he was going over the lux for a winner. Blatche is at $3 mil (costs them $6 for lux), but we'd need to incentivize it (UTA pick for 2010?) to have any chance .. I still say "no way." Perhaps two of McGee, Nick Young, O Pech, or Crittendon would work?

DEN worked hard to slip under the lux this season, but they're back over again next year. Unfortunately for them, they have nothing worth the cap space, even their pick. There are a few teams like this.

PHI: If the 76ers want to hold onto Andre Miller, who's playing great for them lately, then they are going to have a difficult time filling their roster and staying under the lux. I don't think Speights is obtainable, but are Thad Young + Ivey really worth $6 mil to them?

Also, let's not forget about teams like OKC, MEM and DET. Sure, they may have cap space, but just like the Carney deal, a little more can mean the difference between adding one extra big free agent or not.

B: I would have liked someone with more upside than Shelldin Williams, but as experiments go this is a good, cheap one.
Zach Randolph>Frye. Kevin Durant > Oden. Random guy off street> Pritchard.

more apparent upside would have cost more, but there is still a very small chance Williams can show some of the potential that made him a top 5 pick. Drafted ahead of Brandon Roy

I think the Woofies should take advantage of this situation to get Kleiza, who I really like (a rich man's Gomes.) Maybe a sign-and-trade would work... would it be possible it to bring Hunter, Kleiza and a first to the Wolves in one deal? Kleiza's career numbers aren't much different than MN Board Man-Crush Marvin Williams (and Kleiza's a better three-point shooter, which will help Love and Jefferson when he returns.)

I'm all about Thaddeus Young, sign me up. And Ivey is another young point, big enough to try playing next to Foye. Intriguing.
