Sund Will Evaluate Hawks After Season

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Feb 22, 2009 1:57 am

Hawks general manager Rick Sund didn't swing a trade prior to Thursday's deadline, and has reiterated that he won't evaluate the team until after the season.

"My feelings are consistent with what I've said all along, that this season is a barometer. We'll analyze it when it's all over," Sund said.

Atlanta was 32-23 after Friday's action, and held a three-game lead over Miami for fourth place in the East

Once the season is over, Sund will decide whether or not some significant changes are needed in Atlanta.

"We have a lot of options - but that's a good thing, not a bad thing. We're like every other team in the league. Look at the Lakers: Kobe [Bryant] can opt out next year. [Steve] Nash and [Dirk] Nowitzki can be free agents in the next year or two. Everybody is keeping contracts short-term now. A lot of teams may be shuffling the deck."

I'm glad this is being reported that. Sund seems to understand that changes are needed and that this team still needs a legit star.
