Bruiser-

The Lakers are into the luxury tax.

Trading Chris Mihm's expiring contract removes his entire
$2.5 Million from the luxury tax, plus his remaining salary ($1.25 million) from their books.

So, they saved $3.75 million trading him.
They sent undisclosed cash to Memphis.
Memphis owes LA a 2013 second round pick that is top 55 protected
(meaning Memphis will keep the pick).

Basically, the Lakers apparently don't plan to re-sign Mihm,
don't plan to use him in the playoffs (suspect Bynum will be back by April),
and wanted to save $3.75 million minus what they paid the Grizzlies.

And, the Grizz may have said you owe us for the Gasol trade
since Crittendon was a bust and Marc Gasol is so-so,
and the #28 pick they got from the Lakers last year was nothing special.

So, this could be a way of evening that former trade out.
Hey, you never know.

Mihm is an expiring this year and he's played worse or the same this year for the Lakers as MBenga did last year.

Josh Powell > Turiaf > Mihm

Maybe Orlanzo Mourning signs (or soon to be releases big) wth the Lakers now. No way the Lakers sign Cassell.

What history? He was injured once & the Lakes medical staff screwed up the diagnosis. Had they got it right they would have just said he was out for the season. I've also seen people calling him injury prone. How? Each time he was hurt a teammate did something damaging to his knees. This time they don't want to look foolish so they are making the timetable longer than necessary just to save face.

Oh, great!!
But this is basketball.
Otherwise you could sign McGyver. He could kill you with a chewing gum.
Is that tough enough?
