The sad case of David Boston

Post#1 » by Icness » Fri Aug 24, 2007 9:54 pm

http://www.realgmfootball.com/src_wiretap_archives/5529/20070824/boston_arrested_on_dui_charge/

From the piece:
Bucs wide receiver David Boston was arrested on charges of driving under the influence on Thursday night in Pinellas County.

According to a police report, Boston, 29, was found passed out behind the wheel of his red Range Rover at the intersection of 49th Street and Park Boulevard in Pinellas Park on Thursday night. Pinellas Park police say the car was still running, and it was in drive.

In his five years in the NFL, Boston has also played for the Arizona Cardinals, the San Diego Chargers, and the Miami Dolphins. Before the 2004 season, he tested positive for steroids and served a four-game suspension from the league

That is just sad. This guy had every physical tool you could want in a WR--great size, speed, hands, agility, power, good route runner. I would suspect this arrest ends his career. When he was at Ohio State I thought for sure he was destined to be a 8-time Pro Bowler, but his personal demons derailed him.

I don't pity anyone who ruined themselves.

I know some Bucs fans were expecting him to come into the season last year and revive his career. That certainly didn't happen.

No sympathy for people who continue to **** up and will still be given chances, no matter what.

My favorite memory of David Boston was Charles Woodson shutting him down and running past him on his way to the Heisman Trophy.

It's a shame Boston didn't play with Andy"me fail english? that's impossible!" Katzenmoyer and Maurice "guns blazin'" Clarrett at the same type.

They would've been quite the (Please Use More Appropriate Word), trouble trio

Then again, this IS Ohio State we're talking about

I don't feel bad for him either. The guy was given every chance he could hvae asked for and screwed up time after time. I hope his NFL career is over, maybe he'll find a way to his head on straight, seems to be the thing he lacks the most is any sort of common sense.

That sums it up the best. His career was pathetic at best, or at least his behavior was pathetic I should say. And yes, he was busted for steroids, the article says back in 2004 he was suspended 4 games for testing positive.

this guy was a beast (statistically and physically) about 5 years ago, he helped me win a fantasy league. it is pretty sad though he seemingly got addicted to steroids and just kept getting bigger and bigger.

If you've ever met the guy, he's a real nice and quiet guy. His path reminds me of Eddie Griffin, someone else who misused a substance (weed as compared to Boston's roiding) and had a big problem with alcohol.

Difference is that Boston's path seems to be a lot more severe on the surface, and Eddie's looked to be a mild case of someone :censored: up. I hope Boston gets the help he needs, because until he does, its just going to be another circle..

I remember just how much of a stud David Boston was at Ohio State. Man oh man, he was something else.

But yeah, once that roids test came out he lost control of himself.

As a police officer, I think that the arresting officer may be looking at a law suit for false arrest. Boston, IMO, passed the FST -- he has the every right to refuse the FTS and have a blood/urine test (at least in CA). This cop looks like he wanted his name in the paper. Once Boston stated that his balance was messed up due to past surgical procedures - he should've just did a Rhomberg test & measured the pupil dilation to direct light.

I heard about this story on ESPNnews and thought, "Well, there's the 'David Boston is back in trouble' story we get every year."

I've always had a soft spot for David Boston, after he won me my first Fantasy Football league back like...6-7 years ago, on one of those CBS.Sportsline Sandlot ones...

I remember injuries having just as much an impact on his career, as the steroids did.

Yea Pittman isnt all the bright either. Intentionally ramming his hummer into his wifes mercedes still is pretty funny though.
