Yes, they scored 140 each night
But how many points did they give up?

No seemed too concerned about that.

^I think us giving up 100+ was more to do with our bench players playing 20mins each as well...And when the SSOL went round the first time we round they weren't concerned with D either, they just outscored everyone...

Maybe. But Suns are well on their way to third straight game giving up at least 118.

It was evident in Gentry's 2nd game. Giving up 119 to one of the worst, if not the worst, shooting team in the league won't get it done. And against great defensive teams, if our offense falters, which it has against Boston, we're going to lose by a lot.

They've given up average of 122 points over the last 3 games. 116 under Gentry

What SDU said.

If we score 140 whats it matter if they score 118.

If we didn't have refs making up there own rules again to get the Celtics the #1 seed in the east (*cough* Stern */cough*) the game would have been a lot closer and then you would be saying well that nearly got it done, nice effort.

Yes, but you're not going to score anywhere near 140 against the Celtics -- or the Lakers, Spurs, Nuggets, Blazers, Hornets, Rockets, or anyone else they could meet in the playoffs if they get there

yeah basically all we're looking into is out scoring them so much that we dont need to play defense so thats why amar'e is amar'e. tough loss but hopefully we can learn to make stops because either way if we make the 8th spot. its the lakers. so we need to hustle to get into the 5-7 area.
theres no such thing as defense in phoenix.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. You people don't understand. Increased Pace = More shots the other team gets. Suns defense did not get anything done tonight, but the other 3 nights it did. Their offense was rolling off their defense on steals and misses if you noticed. Who cares if they gave up 118, look at the point differential.

SDU is right.

U can bitch bout the player's defense all u want, the guys we currently have on our roster simply aren't good defenders, and mostly aren't meant for playing slowball.
The only way we'd be able to upgrade our D would be acquiring new players.

The only chance we got at beating teams is going all out on offense and leaving it at that.

Well, we're back to where we were. A running team with a capacity to score a lot fo points fast. When we go cold, our D doesn't keep us close so that we have to fight back out a hole quite often.
How does this surprise anyone?

let's look at it this way - under Porter and, admitte4dly, against a Celts team with KG, we were humiliated.
This game - and yes, without,KG - we were competitive for roughly half the game overall and lost by not getting stops and cold shooting. The team looked tired and untogether, bar a strong opening.
If Gentry can get them to buy into team D and teh players get their legs back for a full-blown blitzkrieg, I like our chances far better than I did under Porter.
Then we either get Stat back, or we don't.
I still say this team makes the playoffs and gains ground on several western teams.

I hope you're right, but who do they catch? Everyone in front of them keeps winning. I thought the Rockets might fall off without T-Mac, but they may actually be a better team without him.
Hornets are slumping a bit lately, but the Suns have a tough schedule coming up. They could suddenly be 4 games out of playoff spot.

You're right. At least we're never really out of a game. And exciting to watch

At this point, all I want is a playoff berth

We were down 20 late in the third, and barely scrapped it back under 10 once....from then out, never really were able to sustain any stops. We sure weren't 'in it'.

This is going to be a circus show from here out. We will overwelm an occassional team, and probably beat half the rest, but once again, the true measure will be against the top teir teams and w/o a decent back up to Nash, and having to run our 3rd string PF, and really no back up center....well I just don't have the optimism that was flowing freely this past week of the 'ole run and gun bunch'

My glasses will be readily available

we need to start barnes at 4 rather than grant. im still not giving up. with bynum out, we really dont need 2 big guys against he lakers. i believe that we have a little chance of beating the rest in the west except the spurs. we will need luck to avoid them in the playoffs.
