Houston Rockets Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by MagicHorse » Sun Feb 22, 2009 11:03 pm

THankyou very much for alston, he has 7 assists w 1 min to go in the 1st quarter and has played amazing since joining the magic. He struggled bc yao is slow, and t-mac elongates every touch into a dance-drama thus taking away assist opp. all the experts are right....

Good trade for u guys. He fits your team better. But we weren't going to get over the top with him. We got a younger very good pg in Kyle lowry for the future. So I don't mind the trade.

It was a good move by the Rockets, I agree.

I think it's better in the long run to start looking to the future of your PG position with Brooks and Lowry than to continue with Alston.

And thanks for giving us the cookie monster to sweeten the deal. He's one of the best cheerleaders on the bench. He also makes almost every shot, during shootaround.

It is because no matter who Alston passes it to on the Magic, SOMEONE will score it. Because he passes more than Jameer is the reason his AST total is so high. Give him some time with the team, you will see a lot more mistakes, but he is ALOT better than your older PGS

Just don't let him play heavy minutes or you will see the ugly side of him.

Alston will be ok if the Magic doesnt depend on him to score or penetrate. He can just dish it to all of Orlando's shooters and down low to D12.

Honestly it was a win-win trade. Let's leave it at that.

When you ride the tar that much, you better find some use for yourself and be happy to be there :)
Bay, it's looking like it. This was just another one of those transactions like the Francis signing where the benefit isn't quite so overly obvious (assuming it is, in fact, there)
Jaykoolz, who is that in your avatar? :P~
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?

Exactly!! He's "great" for the magic relatively b/c your past PGs haven't been good. Other than Jameer, whose "great" season so far can be attributed to D12 and weak pg play in the east, I can't think of any PGs of the Magic that i'd want on the Rox. Now, I'm not saying we have good pg's at all b/c we don't, but the great trade line is overrated IMO.

You can't be serious.

I hate when other fans try to tell fans who have watched a particular player for years...just how much they are wrong. We are not wrong about Alston. I said his assists #s would go up b/c Orlando shoots 3s well and they have a big green light in that regard.

Right now Alston is playing his role. He isn't shooting too much so its not hurting you guys. Once he gets comfortable and settles in....every open 3 he gets he will shoot. And he will miss...and you guys will wonder how in the world an NBA player could miss that shot. This is what we experts call the honeymoon period.

This is not to say Alston won't help. He will help...but he is NOWHERE...and I mean NOWHERE close to what Jameer Nelson is as a player. So in that regard...don't expect to be beating the Celts or the Cavs in a 7 game series. You guys were the third best team in the East before Nelson went down with the potential to be more...you are still the 3rd best team in the East but the potential is gone. You are likely stuck right where you are. Thats either good or bad depending on what you expected out of this season.

How you like him now?

R. Alston G 28:56 4-12 0-3 2-3 -17 1 3 5 4 2 1 1 2 10

Orlando gets beat 120-102 by CHICAGO!

A. Brooks G 32:44 8-20 2-5 2-2 -3 1 5 2 2 0 0 3 1 20

Once again, Daryl Morey owns another GM.
