Iommi, as a mod one of the tasks is to keep threads peaceful. When someone makes a comment that seems obviously racist. He made the "racist" comment, some people commented on it and then we moved on.

When someone asks if Mchale is trying to make the whitest team"--shrunk responds "maybe just the smartest" making a direct connection with "whiteness" and "smarts" which is racist. If Shrunk meant something else then maybe his post should have explained that rather than coming across as a quick racist pun. I hardly made a stand for racial equality, rather when someone (*ironically Dr.K) asked "wtf was that" I simply said "standard stupid racist comment" Hardly anything worthy of another thread.

any other comments or can we /thread?

Might shrunk have been simply saying McHale was adding a smart player or two without color being a consideration? I don't think McHale is Adolph Rupp. Why would a racist take much interest in basketball in this era???

As I posted in the thread, I didn't find shrunk's comments to be racist, and I thought it was sad how people jumped down his throat. I don't see how shrunk made a "direct connection" between being white and being smart. He just flat out didn't. I think getting upset about that minor exchange would be the equivilant of getting upset and calling it racist whenever anyone says Sammy Dally is just dumb when it comes to basketball. BBIQ has NOTHING to do with race.

And wasn't Trajan Langdon an Eskimo? Not that he's still in the NBA, or anything, but maybe he's be oppressed?

This thread was a lot cooler when I thought Casey drove Shrink over the edge and he snapped, causing everyone to belittle him by calling him "Shrunk". Of course now that I know the truth this thread is actually kind of lame.

I noticed on the kirk revisted topic when someone mentioned if Mchale was trying to make the whitest team in the league, and i responded with maybe just the smartest, I was called a racist. My comment was based in terms of basketball IQ, not the color of ones skin. For you people who took it to mean something else, was racist on your part--do you hear me rev? I looked at past topics with wording about white players being unathletic, how we should trade mike miller every other week. I believe everyone can be racist sometimes, alot of you people need to take a look at yourselves first.
