Quincy Douby

Post#1 » by DC2 » Sun Feb 22, 2009 8:15 pm

Anyone else hope we sign this guy? He was an excellent scorer in college and a real knock down three point shooter. He atleast is good enough for a look and could turn out to be a good player in the future. He's kind of Ben Gordon-ish because he's a great scorer at the SG spot, although undersized. I really hope we give this guy a look.

Sure, he can play PF in Obie's offense.

Wasn't a stab at you, it was a stab at Obie. But seriously, we have 3 PG's already, one of which has played SF this year, and usually plays SG. We really, REALLY, do not need another guard. Plus, we would have to cut someone to make it happen, which would have to be a forward, unless we are forced to buyout Tinsley.

I know a lot of people that would like a good Douby, but that's not my thing. Now to Quincy Douby, I would take him just so I could make stupid jokes like that all the time.

Sorry there is other stupid crap in there, just go to a minute and a half. Couldn't find one by itself, but I had to post this.

If we get Douby, Tinsley will never leave!

Why would would we add another marginal guard that isn't going to amount to more than a 3rd or 4th option off the bench. If he couldn't produce in Sacramento, he's not going to produce here. He was as much a wasted draft pick for Sacramento as Shawne Williams was for us. There's not a player on our roster that I would cut, just to add Quincy Douby.

I'm not saying he will play now, but he is young and has a lot of potential to be a great scorer. I don't think he's a point guard either, he's a shooting guard, and I think he is better than Graham already. So if we waived Graham for him it would be good for the future and for right now.

Look at his college stats -

Quincy Douby's college stats

I'm not saying we need him, or that we will sign him, but he has potential and would be good to have next season after Daniels leaves, providing we don't draft a SG.

PS look at that Syracuse game on that stat page. 41 points, 9-17 from three. Wow.

College stats are just that, COLLEGE STATS. Not a good way to back up your point. He's had 3 years now to prove himself hasn't done it.

Does summer league count? That's about all I remember of him. I wouldn't release anyone for him. Our point guards are better than him, and he's undersized if you play him at shooting guard.

We really just need a post presence on defense and I hope we address that this summer.

Maybe he's worth a workout, I liked him in the draft.

Yeah, we could at least try him out, but it'd be tough figuring out who to cut.

Douby would just get in the way at this point. Right now TJ and JJ dominate the pg minutes, while either JJ, Daniels and Rush share the 2. If JJ wasn't playing so well right now I would definitely have the opposite view.
