Post#1 » by MilMinMan » Tue Feb 24, 2009 4:03 pm

I think I posted a topic on this a while ago, but I can't find it and the egosearch hasn't worked for ages.

Your list looks pretty complete to me (I have only been keeping track of this for about a year), the only ones I noticed are:

Loren Woods was signed for the remainder of the season by the Rockets last year and as far as I know he hasn't done anything since (at least not in the NBA).

Just thinking out loud, but since the Warriors were well under the cap last year, I would assume that they renounced Chris Webber, perhaps not

Didn't Alonzo Mourning retire on 1-22-09, not sure how we would know if he officially turned in his "retirement papers" to the league though

Gaps, as far as I can tell:

Boston - Mark Bryant
Charlotte - Alan Anderson
Chicago - Martynas Andriuskevicius, Andre Barrett
Cleveland don't have the rights to Billy Thomas because he had an unguaranteed contract for this season and was waived.
Detroit - Wesley Person, Will Blalock, Elden Campbell, Horace Jenkins
Golden State don't have Webber because they had cap space.
Houston - Torraye Braggs, Mark Jackson
Indiana - Lari Ketner, Brent Scott
L.A. Lakers - Jim Jackson
Miami - Bimbo Coles
Milwaukee doesn't have Noel because he signed with the Clippers for training camp this year.
Minnesota - Sam Jacobson, Andrae Patterson, Bracey Wright
New Jersey - Rodney Buford, Jack Haley, Donny Marshall, Jabari Smith, John Thomas, Derrick Zimmerman
New York - Larry Robinson, Qyntel Woods
Rashard Griffith never signed a contract with Orlando and so they technically still own his draft rights instead.
Portland - Luke Schenscher
Toronto - Uros Slokar

Woods was like Thomas and had an unguaranteed deal for this year too, so he had to go through waivers and thus doesn't count.

Now here's the real challenge, what is the "free agent amount" of each of these players?

Not that it really matters, because these guys will all be renounced once their respective teams can get cap space. And isn't it nice to know that a majority of these guys will be off our spreadsheets in the summer of 2010, when a bunch of teams are aiming for and will have cap space. (at least the 9 guys on Detroit will be gone this summer)

I obviously haven't been keeping track of this stuff as long as you guys, but one source that is helping me to somewhat sort this out is prosportstransactions.com. And for Wesley Person the last activity shown is that he was signed by the Nuggets 3-3-05 to what I assume was a vet min contract for the remainder of the season. (the Heat also used the amnesty clause on his waived contract). So basically, unless there is a missing transaction, his free agent rights should still be held by Denver.

Yeah, that's a typo on the Person.

Also, Barrett got re-signed and waived by the Bulls in a transaction that I forgot about, so he's not on there either.

Any updates to the list?

Also, do summer league contracts strip free agent rights? (e.g. Robert Swift and Michael Sweetney playing for Boston)

Thanks Sham.

Also, lakerfan, I've done my best to get all the free agent amounts for this offseason. My spreadsheets (which are largely lifted from Sham and then reformatted and reorganized for my own liking) are here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... utput=html

I'm adding YOU to my list of people-who-steal-my-info-just-to-put-it-elsewhere-on-the-web-that-I'm going-to-murder-next-time-there's-a-full-moon-and-I-go-out-killing. It's quite a long list, even longer than the title, so you still have time to escape to Guadeloupe.

If you could please sort said list first by those who don't attribute your work and then in descending order of their traffic, that would ensure a long and healthy life for me.

It would all just be a lot easier if you auto-forwarded all your insider emails directly to me.

Also, it looks like you might need to update the calculations for the Bulls, Cavs, Nets, Sixers, and Blazers. And, re-sort the Celtics, Nets, and Blazers.

I figured that having the time you spent updating these at a nice round 24 hours would be much better for impressing women over a pint of warm Boddington's than something like 22.

No need to cite or thank, your ire is payment enough.

Tell you what Sham: since it seems like you don't like the input, I'll knock it off. Thanks, as always, for sharing your info.
