So I asked David Thorpe a question...

Post#1 » by xxSnEaKyPxx » Wed Feb 25, 2009 6:00 pm

Jon (Charlotte, NC): What are the ceilings for Roy Hibbert and Brandon Rush? Both have shown flashes of being great and both have shown flashes of NBDL, where can we expect them to be 4 years down the road?

David Thorpe: (12:56 PM ET ) A pg, sf, pf, and a c. They may have the pf and c, both guys are just so young right now.

Am I the only one who didn't understand his answer?

Yeah, I don't get it at all. Maybe he was drunk or high?

I asked Pree on Hoops wor ld the same question about a week ago and he said he really liked Hibbert long term for the Pacers, but said the Pacers wing position was too tough to crack for Rush.

He didnt say anything about Roy's PG capabilities though.......maybe Chad Ford can dissect Roy's crossover in his next chat

Looks to me like he got confused as to which question he was responding to.

It's your own fault for expecting a sensical answer from David Thorpe. He's my least favorite chatter. At least he didn't just answer your questions with "Yes."

Better than J.A. Adande who only answers questions about Kobe and the Lakers.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to that particular question.

Haha, you know that's funny. I was reading the chat transcript earlier and saw that question and thought to myself, "What the hell kind of answer is that?" It's obvious he didn't understand the question, but I kind of wish he would have answered it for real. He is the rookie guru over at ESPN.com and he very, very rarely says anything about our guys.

Something tells me his answer has something to do with Sacramento. Might have a PF (Ryder) & C(Hawes) "both guys are just so young right now" and there is no mention of SG as a need. I have no idea how he got to it, but that's my guess.

I got an actually response today...

Jon (Charlotte, NC): Its pretty comical that Troy Murphy has done a better job of leading his team than Chris Bosh has, no?

David Thorpe: (12:50 PM ET ) No. But Murph is tearing it up now.

I've been getting a lot of my questions answered recently.

I've had 3 answered. One by Thorpe, one by Stein, and one by Hollinger. I want Simmons to answer a question so I can achieve the Holy Grail of ESPN.com chats. That being said, I haven't had one answered in a long time. Jerks.

I bet I could get Adande to answer one if I asked about the Lakers or Kobe...otherwise you don't stand a chance.

Adande sucks. I never even bother reading his chats, like you said, its all a bunch of Lakers crap.
