Hawks at Nuggets 2/25/09

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Thu Feb 26, 2009 1:41 am

The game is on NBA TV. I dont know why people still want to watch the Hawks, we are so sorrry. Hopefully it will be somewhat of a game and I wont have to change the channel mid way through the second quarter. No Josh Smith, so this should be interesting. Good luck Hawks, show us what yall are really about please, bc I hope to god what uve shown us lately is what yall are about.

First offfensive possesion of the game Joe holds the ball for 9 seconds, its starting to get ridiculous!

the iso Joe play needs to be put on a shelf until JJ starts hitting again. Too often lately his isos are totally wasted possessions.

Marvin has 20 points on 8 shot attempts. you think that, just maybe, he should be getting more looks?

Nice to see Horford actually looking to score from 18 feet instead of just standing there looking for someone to pass to. In order for him to become a legit scorer he is going to have to take those midrange shots when they are there.

Man... how did Flip miss that shot at the buzzer so badly? Hard to bash a guy that has been so clutch for us this season though.

Joe stepped up and put this team on his back down the stretch tonight. When he plays like that we will be in every game on the road up until the end.

I think it's worth noting that we played at a level of intensity that we haven't in quite some time. Could it be because the team was breathing a fresh air without Josh Smith?

YES obvsiously. We are a much better team with Marvin as our number 2, rather then Smith our 2 or even our 3rd. Marvin could be something good if he got more looks. He seems to play much better only when someon is injured which sucks cuz we could use him when someone struggles, but I see a bright future for him. If we polish his 3pt shooting and help him get a quicker first step he will be quite good. Well see where this intense game will take us. Other than Cleveland on sunday we have a relatively easy road which I will be looking forward to seeing even though we will probably lose two of those games cuz we are so inconsistent. Good effort though hawks!

To be fair to Murray, I think he expected Joe to take that last shot. Maybe Joe thought he was being defended by the OLD Kenyon Martin.

We have had a lot of discussion lately on Joe being a star or superstar. There is the answer tonight.

Make no mistake about it, Joe played out of his mind in the 4th quarter, but does anyone doubt who would have taken that last shot had it been Lebron, Kobe, KG, Wade, Melo or any other superstars.

I am not bashing Joe, he was amazing tonight late in the game and without him it would not have been close, but he does not have that killer instinct yet like the afforementioned guys....

Boy that was an awesome game though wasn't it

I don't think that's fair, dpaulh. Joe put us on his back down the stretch. They tried to push him away from the basket, so he was shooting from 2 steps inside the halfcourt line.

I believe he just made a poor choice, probably because he was thinking too much about Martin, but Joe DEFINITELY had the "killer instinct" tonight.

People can have a killer instinct for a game at a time but it doesnt translate from game to game. He had this killer instinct in the playoffs last year and has a had it only a handful of games this year. I hope he can make this a normal things or else were done for!

Good night, Irene.

I'm going to bed thinking about Chauncey Billups as our PG. NBA title?

Basically how I felt when I watched it. Joe needed to take that shot or draw the foul.

I didn't have a problem with Joe passing at the end. Flip was wide open and he has hit big shots for us all year.

I thought the Hawks deserved to win. It sucks because we have a good number of moral victories(on the road against Boston,Dallas,Houston,Pheonix, etc)where we play as hard as we can to get back in the game...but it seems like we can never make the 1 big play to secure the win. That was the best they played in quite some time vs a quality opponent though.

JJ, you got to take that shot dude, no matter what. Attack the rim, their D that's normally horrible, was all getting back, you could've even been fouled or something but do not pass for an out of balance jump shot when you're in the paint. Did you forget you have that pretty floater ??? I'm very disappointed. There's a reason why you get paid 14 M/season stud... I love your game, but you've let me down. Anyway, I'm surprised we competed, that shows how far from being a contender the Nuggets are. Marvin had one of his 5 good games he has a year. I didn't miss J. Smith for a second  !
GO HAWKS.
