Report from the Game in Los Angeles
I went to the game with 2 of my friends. Let me start by saying there were a few thousand Celtic fans. It was great to see so much Green in L.A. I have to say lot of the Celtic fans were classy.
We got in the Stapples Center about an hour before the game. I got to see the players shootaround. Pierce and Ray were in the locker room. Giddens was putting on a dunking exhibition. He might be even more athletic than Bill Walker. Danny Ainge was at the game. He actually got on the court when the shoot around was almost over, and was going over something with Giddens so. Ainge then throw about 5-7 ally-oops to Giddens. That was strange and fun to see at the same time. How many GM's do that? It was really cool.
Giddens and Pruitt harldy missed during warm ups. Giddens was even hitting 3's. Walker was mainly dunking the ball every time, but nothing fancy. Moore was dunking the ball with ease. Marcus Camby listed at 6'11 was about an inch taller that Moore, who is listed at 7'0.
I saw Adam Sandler, Marcus Allen, and Billy Crystal. Penny Marshall and Fred Dryer(the dude form Hunter and the ex NFL player) walked past him.
Now to the game. We started off slow, played with little energy. Pierce was cold. Perkins sucked. The refs took us out of the game early with some back calls.. BBD was called for some silly B.S. fouls. He was the best match up vs. Randolph.
Once Davis got in early foul trouble, we put Perkins on Randolph and Zach dominated Perkins the entire game. Zack went for 30 and 12 while Perkins had 3 and 9 rebounds. Powe also got into foul trouble as well through out the game. Doc had no choice but to play Perkins on Zach.
Pierce was cold the entire game. Ray started off well, but disappeared in the 4th quarter. Also it seemed like every time we were able to get a stop, Camby or Randolph would get an offensive rebound. Between the two of them, they had 10 offensive rebounds compared to 9 for our entire team.
But we still had a chance to win. We were up 82-73. We had the ball in Pierce's hand. He shot a wide open 3. He missed. Had he made it would would have been put by 12 and would have put a danger in their heart. That changed the game. The Clippers answered back with a 8-0 run and it was a new game.
With sloppy ball handling(20 TO"s) and missing about 5-6 FT's in the last 3 minutes of the game, it was the end of story. A very frustrating lose.

Re: Report from the Game in Los Angeles
Good thread ruined by a troll.
That's cool about the fans R2G. It seemed like 4-5 people from this board went to the game, so I imagine there were a lot at the arena.
Shame we lost. Anybody know if Pierce is going to sit out friday? I hope not.

Thanks for the update.
By the way, Marcus Camby's pre-draft measurement
was 6' 11" without shoes,
so if Mikki Moore is 1 inch shorter, as you suggest,
then Moore is 6' 10" without shoes.
Anyway, since you used to toute Tony Allen so much last season,
I was sort of expecting you to mention his absence.
If Tony was healthy and available, Celtics win.
DItto for KG, or if Steph had been available.
Celtics needed one more scorer,
since although Perk and Leon contributed 9 rebounds each,
they only coughed up 6 points.
Plus, KG was missed up front.
Perk 31 minutes, 3 pts. (1-3 FG, 1-1 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 TO's, 5 fouls
Leon 24 minutes, 3 pts. (1-6 FG, 1-4 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 TO's, 5 fouls
Mikki 13.5 minutes, 4 pts. (2-2 FG), 1 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 fouls
Glen Davis 26 minutes, 14 pts. (5-7 FG, 4-6 FT), 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 4 TO's, 5 fouls
Little things, like
Davis's 4 turnovers and 5 fouls,
Perk's 3 turnovers and 5 fouls,
Leon's 2 turnovers and 5 fouls
cost this game.
They may each think they have 5 fouls to burn, but it's killing the team
(Those 3 alone totaled 9 turnovers and 15 fouls).
I do agree that some of the calls on Davis and Perk were BS,
and that Rajon had two made buckets whistled away for charging and traveling,
but overall, it's still too many.
BS calls go both ways.
Thanks for the update.

The fouls hurt, but the TO's and missed FT 's are the problem.

This is why it's so **** frustrating to be a Celtics fan...even when we sucked idiot fans of other teams would come on here and troll...why do they always feel the need to **** on our parade here?
Great second line, too, Kefa!

I was there, too. There was pretty much thousands of C's fans. You could see green everywhere. Maybe not a "sea of green" but close.
And boy the Clippers fans that do exist, this gave them a rare moment to get excited about their team. Too bad it was at our expense.

When someone was shooting free throws you could see the crowd and it almost looked like the game was in Boston.

That game was U-G-L-Y. Celtics turned it over like 40 zillion times. That was just a trash game. Chalk one up to "oops we suck today."

I didn't want to use injuries as an excuse. The Clippers are one of the top 10-12 teams in the league IMO, when healthy. But they have been hurt all season. They were playing without Kaman, Thornton, and Gordon left this game with an injury.
If we had KG, TA, and Scalabrine, we would have won. Even if we had Scalabrine, we would have won. The reason I mentioned the fouls was that we only had 3 bigs. Perkins, Powe, and BBD. Moore didn't now the system and was lost out there. The refs tried to take BBD and Powe out of the game with atleast 2 B.S. fouls on each. It worked.

I mean, we all know the Lakers have 9 titles yet y'all still try to make it 14!

That game was summed up on the play where House passed up a wide open pull up 3 on the break to throw it away to Jones or Collins or somebody. That and the alley oop to Moore that was chucked out of bounds.
Totally sloppy game by an overconfident team after the Denver win.
kind of pathetic, gotta move on. worst played game since that loss to the Knicks.

Seriously...we can count. There were C's fans behind me to my left and below and one clipper fan nearby. That's not to say there weren't enough clips fans to make some noise, but there were definite cheers when the Celts hit shots which you can clearly hear on the TV coverage more than at any other venue I can think of.
Truthfully, I wish the Clippers had more fans. And they look like they should be getting better. There are some quality players on that team.
I thought the BD/Collins/Randolph/Camby group was well balanced and effective. They've also got Thornton, Ricky, Eric G, Fred Jones. That's actually shaping up pretty nicely. Maybe I'll go to another game. The only real villains on that team are Celtic killer Jones and Randolph. And those guys don't aren't nauseating like, say, Kobe.
And I only counted 9 banners hanging at Staples for the Lakers, and they are all on one wall. I like it much better at the Garden where the entire ceiling is covered.

Staying up until 1AM to watch the Celtics lose to the Clippers is as depressing as it gets. It must have been even worse in person.

I was there. There were thousands of Celtic fans there and they were there EARLY.
Even the public address announcer made a comment before the game started about all the GREEN in the house, and he challanged the CLIPPER fans to make some noise.
I don't get why LAKER fans can't respect the fact that the CELTIC'S are insanely popular everywhere they go. You cannot spin the fact's about this, even though the CELTICS did lose to the lowely CLIPPERS, there were TONS of C"s fans there last night. TONS!
