OKC fan here looking for Cavs fans' opinions on Varejao
Greetings everyone.
First and foremost let me get this out of the way: I think you guys have the best team and if I were a betting man my money is on you to win it all this year. At the very least, I see you guys getting to the finals. I really think you'll beat boston.
Anyhow, I was wondering what you could tell me about Varejao, because I can see us going after him this summer since he's a free agent.
What would he bring to the table for a team like the Thunder?
What are the odds we pry him away from you this summer? Is it just gonna take us having to overpay for him?
Thanks in advance, honorable fans of the glorious cavaliers of cleveland

Re: OKC fan here looking for Cavs fans' opinions on Varejao
First and foremost I enjoy watching your young team especially Durant and Westbrook. You guys have a bright future in OKC. I thought your front office overreacted in rescinding that Tyson Chandler trade and thought he would be a great long term fit for your team.
With that said there will also be other be men available like Emeka Okafor but the Thunder would actually have to trade for him. Boozer or Millsap are other guys that should be available in FA that could also be a fit for your team.
Varejao is an energy player that works well with LeBron and I think he's best suited to come off the bench. He's not really a threat to score but provides alot of defense (especially from the perimeter) and energy. I honestly don't think he's worth more than 7-8 mil per year and the Cavs would pay that to keep Andy. If you pay any more than that you are definitely overpaying especially considering the other big men that should be available who have a better all around skillset. JMO.

Re: OKC fan here looking for Cavs fans' opinions on Varejao
Thanks for your comprehensive answer.
Yeah, you basically said what I thought all along. He seems like a 7-8 mil/yr player but we'd have to pay more to get him from you guys, and if we did that we'd be over-paying, which is something our GM Presti wouldn't do.
And please dont remind me about the rescinded chandler trade, that non-trade hurt like hell. I hope that doctor who nixed the trade for us is fired!
Anyway good luck to you guys and just know that if and when you meet the celtics and Lakers, this is one OKC fan that will be rooting for you guys as if they were my own team. I HATE boston and I HATE kobe.
That ring should be icing on the cake for LBJ after he gets the MVP this year.

Yeah, I was really interested in the future that Oklahoma had if they would of kept Tyson.
You guys still have some nice pieces and I am REALLY hoping you guys get to land Griffin. If not then do you think you will make a run at Carlos Boozer? Maybe you could draft Thabeet (younger Chandler) and pair him with a PF like Carlos Boozer?

Re: OKC fan here looking for Cavs fans' opinions on Varejao
As an OKC fan I want nothing to do with Boozer. He seems like a snake, after what he did to you guys and the way he bolted for Utah. But more importantly, we don't need a scoring PF, we need a defensive presence in the post even if it means he scores like 5ppg.
I was really on the Thabeet bandwagon but then I saw his nationally televised game against Pitt and it stopped me dead in my tracks. That was a disturbing performance.
The way I see it, unless we get Griffin or Harden, we need to trade the pick.

Get your facts straight before you comment on here, Drew was in high honors classes in college and maintained a 4.0 gpa.

If you throw Varejao 10 million a year, you'll be able to get him in OKC.
The Cavs will probably pay up to 7, maybe 8 million per year to keep him hear.
I actually see him taking his 6.2 mil P.O. this off-season, to stay here another year...with the economy and people waiting for 2010, it might be a better financial move.

andy is a great big off the bench, if not the best big off the bench but he is not a starter, (even though IMO he is a better starter then BWALLACE), he sets great picks and gets on the opposing teams skin, and can score a little not alot though. i think if you guys add another knock down shooter and a decent big you can make the playoffs next year

^^We have the 2nd best record in the East with 25 games remaining.. We are already going to make the playoffs THIS YEAR even without another knock down shooter or decent big.
