There is absolutely no chance he went that long with a detachment. None. It's impossible. A tiny, microscopic hole in his retina would end up causing a peel and detachment in, at the most, one month.

As far as playing basketball with a retina detachment, he couldn't, unless he shut his eye the entire time (and you can tell he doesn't). The detachment causes double vision.

On the other hand, if they are speaking about a totally different problem with his eye, I can believe that. If it's blurry vision, or something, then yes...understandable.

I just hope they aren't trying to say that Amare has had this detachment since 2003, because that is so far from the truth, it's mind-blowing.

No. The article above is simply talking about bad vision here. Not retinal detachment. In his left eye, not right.

sorry to inform everyone, but amare will need additional surgery on his eye. he will not be able to return until next season. when i find out more info, i will post it.

I'll guess and say it is to correct the vision or implant a lens.
