The way I see it, If we make the playoffs i'll be happy even if the odds of us making a deep run arn't plausible. On the other hand if we try our best and still don't make the post season, then I'll be happy because our pick for next year gets better. Even if the draft is weak, a 14 pick is much better than a 19.

Also bear in mind that Boston tanked in the run up to the Oden draft and got nothing for it - so not only is it odious, it's no sure thing. They were also so dreadful a team that it didn't take much to throw in the towel on the season - just some tweaks in the lineup. No player was ever asked to throw a game

we needa just do wut we can this year and still try at least. but in other terms, just trade shaq for one of the teams trying to get expirings and get as much as we can. in terms of picks, either way Kerr doesnt know how to evaluate young players. i would've took mario chalmers, hibbert, speights, hickson, mcgee, or anyone else. sorry dont mean to insult but thats how i feel about how we drafted.

Considering Iraq is all but won right now and it would take Obama and the brass completely dropping the ball to cause failure at this point (and even they might not by able to screw it up now) this is actually an example of why you guys should persevere and try to make the playoffs.


The reality is it's too late in the season for you guys to tank anyways. What are you gonna get? The fourteenth pick? Since you don't have a first rounder next year and have won too many games already this year to start tanking you might as well just play out these next two years and go for a title, maybe you'll pull something off. If after two years you're still nowhere you'll be in perfect position to rebuild with Shaq coming off the books (and Amare if for some reason you don't want to bring him back, but that wouldn't be a great idea).

At the end of the day you can enjoy watching Nash and Shaq play out what may be their final few seasons. Enjoy this team while you have it.

All these tanking threads keep coming up. If you can honestly tell me you want to turn on that TV tonight and watch the Suns purposely lose the game, I can suggest some other teams you should follow instead. As a TRUE fan, if there was even ONE PLAY where I thought someone intentionally screwed up or didn't try, I would question my team's ability to operate as an entertainment franchise.

Yeah, it sucks Amar'e is hurt but you know what? If we tank this season, we should tank the next 3-5 seasons because we would essentially be throwing Nash, Shaq and Hill out the window so we would need to acquire a starting PG, SF and C, then develop them to the point where the PG was a 2 time MVP, the SF was the best value in the league and the C was dominant in the paint. I'll modify what I said - we would actually need to tank the next 5-8 seasons.

Tanking on purpose doesn't make much sense. You aren't likely to get high enough for Thabeet or Griffin so might as well play hard. If the injuries pile up tanking might be unavoidable.

Supposedly the Suns aren't interested in Joe Smith. **** I would be. There would be 3 guys on my list. Joe Smith, Drew Gooden, and Bobby Jackson. All could get bought out. All could help the Suns.

As for the draft. Idk, I sure see some prospects. Around where the Suns would draft, Craig Brackins would make a lot of sense. Especially if they plan to move Stoudamire next year. Other than that I'd suggest going point guard. I like Johnny Flynn for my Nuggets. Definiately would be a good fit for the Suns. Patty Mills would be nice too.

DeJuan Blair could definiately give the Suns some toughness. Plenty to think about. No reason to tank intentionally.

Al-and- Perk hits the nail squarely.... It is too late to tank... that decision was to be made while we could still trade. If a fire sale went on, I am sure even our Front Orfice could have found a home for Shaq, Nash, and Hill.

But as it is, we will have to 'enjoy watching' that trio finish out their careers. Too bad they won't be enjoying it.

This season has been a fiasco. Poor decisions, unfortunate luck (Amare) and a mismanagement of future assets. As I said ... this front orfice can't wait for the season to end. Sure, may be we slide into the playoffs...but right now we are 0 and 1 on this ballbusting ten game stint.

Enjoy Shaq, Nash, and Hill.... for IMO, it will be their last yrs in purple... for their sake I hope it happens. You have to believe they hold Kerr-nel Klink and Co responsible. yep yep and yep, emphatically agree and all that jazz. I think the biggest disappointment i have regarding this team is they have no clear leadership, First we are selling off assets in order to make room for more contributing savvy(cheap, no long commitment veterans) then we are complaining we have no youth or picks to rebuild around and considering trading veterans for youth, picks and cap flexibility..

This summer is going to be fun and anyone with hopes of ending their careers in a meaningful role on a team with a chance to be competitive is going to want out even if they are too professional to publicly state it in the media. I suspect management will continue to flip flop between we are a championship caliber team one or two cheap pieces away from our goal(so we had to get rid of these picks) or we are trying to inject youth(so we traded our only young quality player Stoudemire) for mid level picks and expiring contracts.

The indecision of it Management is the real issue for this team, they can't decide who they want to be, so every year is a brand new idea with no concept of the long term.

I'd be pissed but luckily the suns took care of my passion and replaced it with apathy.

In addition to the fact that tanking does very little for us (weak draft and there's not too far to sink anyway...), would anyone really turn down a run that gets us into the Playoffs? We're underdogs to make the top 8 in the West at this point, and doing it will mean that we improve significantly and knock off some teams that have better records than us. Wouldn't that be somethin'? You really would trade that in for a couple of extra ping-pong balls?

Plus, let's not underestimate the value of letting Gentry do his thing with the best weapons he has available. Top priority should probably be figuring out if he's our coach going forward and whether this system is worth keeping in place (albeit with a defensive tweak or two).
