Thomas is a POS. He called magic gay and also tried to throw his daughter under the bus.

Tommy almost sounded like Peter Griffin saying "Zeke called me a racist!"

well tommy is a racist, empirically if we look at things, he gives 90% of the tommy points to african amercian players and only 10% to whites while almost never giving a tommy point to hispanics or asians, therefore we can clearly see that tommy is a racist he definitly favors african americans

You know, you bring up a great point. I don't think I've ever seen him give Tommy points to a Native American either.

As I recall, back in the 80's Tommy was broadcasting and of course had glowing things to say about Larry Bird. Rodman said something about if Bird was black no one would be saying anything much about him and that he wouldn't have won his MVPs. Isiah latched onto this and called Tommy a racist. I don't remember the details except everyone felt it was absurd and Isiah embarrassed himself.

If I remember correctly this caused a huge stir and Larry Bird actually bailed Isiah and Rodman out of a difficult situation in a follow up press conference

I saw that Thomas press conference when it occurred, and always thought he was saying "Yeah, right" more or less sarcastically, but without trying to embarrass his teammate.

This is the ONE thing I know of in his whole life where Thomas has gotten a public, undeserved bad rap. (There's probably a second, non-public one that led to him being blackballed from the Dream Team, which then wound up short on PGs after injuries.)

I know, it's hard to conceive of Thomas getting UNdeserved criticism, but it can happen to anybody.

Tommy did have some funny racist things to say about Yao Ming a couple years ago. Something about chopsticks and godzilla I think.

Isaiah deserves every lob thrown at him, so please don't feel at all bad about this. In addition to being racist, Mr. Thomas is also sexist, misogynistic, and downright mean to women. Oh, and he thought black women were bitches and blamed his own daughter for his suicide attempt. Good man.

thanks gant, good to know.

while we are at can anyone confirm the following tommy story: my dad, who is known to fabricate things like this, said that tommy lost his job as a color commentator for national nba games on cbs because he said that that manute bol holds an nba record for being the only player ever to have killed a lion with a spear. this seems like something good ol' tommy would say.

The oddity of this whole accusation was Tommy was at the forefront of integrating the NBA. He stood up against racism back in the 50s and early 60s when that took courage.

There was one incident where the Celtics were doing a series of exhibitions in the preseason in the South and the mayor of a small city where they were playing honored the Celtics with the key to the city.

Later that night after the game the team went to eat in a restaurant and the place wouldn't allow Satch and KC to eat in the dining room with the white players. (I believe they said they could eat out of sight in back but I might be remembering that wrong.)

Anyway Tommy was so mad that he went to the mayor's house at like 2 or 3 in the morning, banged on the guy's door waking him up, and gave him the key to the city back.

Also everyone knows Russell was the first black NBA coach. But as I understand it, Red offered Tommy the job first. It was then that Tommy suggested Russ, saying to Red that no one could get as much out of Russell as Russell himself.

There's a difference between racial comments and racist comments.
Not everything racial is racist.
