This team is set....
..... to win another championship again!
The way I saw Marbury and Moore play their first game together, our bench is deep enough to win banner 18!
After the next 10 games they've played together and Garnett back from the injury, we're more dangerous team than ever!
Agree?!

agree. We have the best starting 5 in the league
Then with a bench of Marbury, Powe, Davis, House, Moore, Veal, Walker/Giddens/Pruitt.. not bad
If Veal can play and Tony Allen gets healthy in time for the postseason, our bench might be one of the strongest
Still, Pierce and Allen are going to have a lot of 38-43 minute games. Especially Ray Allen. Doc Rivers isn't able to sit him in tight games. Maybe Marbury could help there in the rest of the regular season.

Well, our depth certainly is a lot better than a month ago. But I wouldn`t mind having a big SF and a defensive 7` center on the bench also...

We are deadly set. It is not just because of Moore and Starbury. Big Baby is not a baby anymore. He played like an experienced beast.

Re: This team is set....
Man i loved watching those guys out there, with a couple of weeks training with all the guys Marbury and Moore and going to be perfect for this squad... i loved what Steph did going at the rim and hitting Ray off screens
He can be a real difference maker, and Moore is going to be solid through out

Re: This team is set....
This year, if the Celtics are say down one point with 10 seconds to go in a playoff game and have the ball, there is little chance a lineup of Steph, Eddie, Ray, Pierce, and KG don't get a decent shot off. There is just no way to guard all those guys. Now, that doesn't solve the problem of who actually takes the big shot, but for one offensive possession is there any other team in the league that can put that kind of offensive firepower spread out amongst 5 players? I can't think of one. Then on D Doc can pull Steph and Eddie out and replace with Perk and Rondo.

As Birdman said C and SF are the weakest.
HOWARD,ILGAUSKAS,GASOL/BYNUM
We have Perk, who is great but always gets in foul trouble. I like Baby because C cant push him around and now hitting mid range jumper, great improvement. I see Moore as a 3th center, but how weak and fragile he is he could be only good for making a few fouls on those centers.
As small forward spot goes Lebron is the only real danger.
Pierce and T.Allen are the only one who can guard him. Scal to slow.
We will see, but all I can say now is that Steph is a huge addition to our team.

the team is not set,if we don't get smith we should cut moore and sign a better center, probably not too many choices left, one is pj brown or scott pollard. i would let scalabrine play SF during the playoff with tony allen, there won't be any quality SF available now so just cut moore and get a replacement.

This isn't a video game. Who the heck are you gonna sign? If PJ wanted to play, he would be on the team already. Pollard? Bahahahaha. This is the team. Get used to it.

Yes....no option
Between Mutombo or Moore I woudl pick Dikembe despite his 40+ years...bot besides those twon NO big men were available...
Talking about Marbury we got the best posible player of all cut in years.

Moore is on the team for good, no way Ainge would cut him - he'd never in his life be able to sign another deadline vet minimum player if he did.

Re: This team is set....
With Marbury in the fold the Celtics are going to use a lot of Marbury, House, Ray combinations. Ray is very much capable of defending Lebron in short stretches... he's done so everytime the Celtics have matched up with the Cavs in the past two seasons. When Tony is healthy he'll likely get at least 10 minutes matched up with Lebron. I think that the team will be able to work things out at the 1-3 spots... really, who in the NBA has MORE talent at those positions? Rondo, Marbury, Ray, Pierce with House, Tony + Scals (when healthy). That's about as good as it gets.
In the frontcourt, you have the best defensive starting combo in the league with Garnett and Perkins. Behind these guys you have lots of different looks you can throw at opponents. Davis, Powe, Scals and Moore all bring different elements to the game. 3 of the 4 are floor spacers with Powe and to a lesser extent Davis/Moore bringing some inside scoring/finishing skills. None of the backups are full-time universal rotation guys but they all possess plus NBA skills in one or more areas.
This team as a whole is deeper than last year's team and possesses greater overall chemistry. Nothing is guaranteed but I feel like you have to like the Celtics chances of repeating. They're really, really deep and talented.

I'll be happier when I see a healthy KG on the floor, same goes for Scals and that other 2 guard guy that gets an incredible amount of steals (and TOs) per minute played...oh yeah, TA.
I'm just excited right now for that possibility.

Re: This team is set....
Here is question that is often overlooked in the discussions of Danny's building of the bench this season. What was last year's teams greatest weakness? The over-reliance on outside shooting and the lack of overall athleticism on the team... is how I'd answer that question, and many people felt likewise last season, especially during the Atlanta series. Cassell, Ray, Eddie, Posey, KG... The Celtics were often lacking in offensive creativity and penetration ability... the offense would stagnate and outside shooting was the only thing to bail the team out.
With the addition of Marbury, the team addressed one of it's major weaknesses of last season and to a lesser extent, this season. Marbury is another guy who won't settle for the jump shot and actually has the ability to hurt teams once he gets in the middle. When Tony Allen comes back Marbury and himself will be in full attack mode on both ends and both are very athletic. Powe and Davis are improved from last year, despite Powe's dip in productivity. I think this team is set up to be more aggressive, more uptempo, and more balanced offensively. This greater offensive balance, when coupled with the stout Team Defense concepts will make this team an extremely tough out in the playoffs.

Re: This team is set....
I agree, our greatest weaknesses last year was a reliance on the 3 offensively let alone a jump shooting team.
And our backup PG either couldn't keep the tempo or was a black hole that couldn't shoot.
This year it's depth at the C and SF positions as well as shot blocking off the bench.
Perkins doesn't look like he's going to learn how to not get into foul trouble. But if he could SF would be our only true weakness!
We're made to take down, PG/SG studed teams. Unfortunately our greatest rivals in the East, Magic and CLE are C and SF led teams.
If we get a Tony Allen back I feel like this team is equal to last year, just different.
Btw even as I type this for some reason I can't get the excitement of knowing I'll see Starbury play Sunday out of my head. He may say something stupid or he may play great either way it's going to be exciting!!!

Re: This team is set....
Although Doc and Danny kept saying we were all set going into the trade deadline and subesquent buyout phase, did anybody on this board believe them?
We needed another big to match up with the taller Cavs and Lakers in the middle and we needed help at backup PG. We got both.
I would've preferred Joe Smith instead of Mikki, but considering the uncertainty with Joe getting bought out, Mikki was the best big out there, and better than an empty seat at the end of the bench, that's for sure. He has a nice mid range jump shot and he will definitely help in the middle.
Steph is going to help us immensely, and is an incredible steal. How often does a max player get bought out in this league? Steph gives us the ability to take some minutes off the back of RR, Ray, and Paul, fill in for any injuries, and adds a potential all star caliber player to the second unit.
I'm ready to go to war with this team when the playoffs start.

Not to rain on your parade, I really doubt that, since the last team that I think had the best starting five was Jordan Bulls and I have yet to see another team to that caliber of talent as their starting five.
And if you want to talk about in the current NBA, I still have to disagree with you.

Well, if that's what you think, then who's better than the Cs starting 5?

WOW calm down man, why are you getting all fired up??
Like I said YOU DONT HAVE the best starting five.
It was the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and no other team yet to be on the same level.
I know this is going to hurt, but not even the threepeat Lakers or the Spurs was close to that team.
I dont think you guys have the best starting five, because to me the best starting five is five players that dominate there position night in night out on a consistant bases a dominant defense and a very good offensive team.
You have a true guard, a two guard a forward and a power forward and a dominating center.
Is your center a dominating center..... NO. SO thats one reason that you guys dont have the best starting 5, then we move on to your 2 guard, does Ray have the ability to bring the ball up and run the offense, NO he's just a shooter......... So thats two reasons, is Rondo consistant in his game, NO.
And the reason I said the Jordans Bulls cause they were the only team that I have ever seen that was a solid starting 5 when it came to each and every position on their team.
Each player worked within the system and they were consistant in every part of their game and the game itself.
Now tell me what makes your team the best starting 5 in the league, other than your a homer fan that simply doesnt like someone saying something negative about your beloved team?
Without getting all flamed up, personal and offensive.
