Starbaby next season........

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Sun Mar 1, 2009 12:06 pm

From his own lips......

Asked about if he wanted to play in Boston next season, Marbury said, "If they want me, I'll be here."

Personaly I think he will deliver his part this season, but he will want to secure nice contract for the next - I'm almost sure he wont play for few mln. Celtics could offer. Saying "If they want me, I'll be here" doesnt mean much, because he probably implies "if you want me, pay up". :-?
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?

Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.

Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

Guys,

I've never posted on another teams board. I wish you all luck with Steph, when he came home to NY I was elated, great skill & sure he'd get it together @ MSG. He never did, the trouble here wasnt all his doing but he got blamed the most... ALMOST to the point of being a scapegoat, but not quite because he always opened his mouth & said something stupid.

In Boston you all have some explosive personalities, KG, E. House, PeePee (Paul Pierce). It would be interesting to see how everyone reacts when Steph says/does something in character. Other than that; thanks for taking this Benign Tumor out of our hands, hopefully you can turn him into a scary player; for your own sake...

Also, one last thing... If somehow the Knicks do manage to get it together & win enough games to get into the playoffs... I look forward to a fun, dirty, emotionally charged season, and please Boston.... Don't even think for a second that you're gonna roll all over us

I tell you, if it works out this year and he wants to come back and is okay with being 6th man (of the year?) next year, then that's a situation where the Celtics partnership should crank out some new ownership shares to sell for a few million each to the Big 3: the understanding being that the proceeds will go to support the payroll for that threepeat scenario. Marbury gets his contract, the Big 3 get a piece of the C's forever, and the franchise gets not only another great season--but the great pr of another generation of stars staying involved with the team.

Would be great for the LLE but I doubt Starbury will accept anything below a significant part of the MLE.

Didn't Posey say the same thing as well? Celtics rented Marbury for 25 games. Marbury will not be back with the team next year because he can make much more money elsewhere.

Marbury will be happy to come back if we pay him what other teams will. Of course that isn't going to happen if he finishes these season out worth a damn.. The only hope we have of keeping him is if other teams are too scared to sign him.

If Marbury plays to his potential, I'd give him the MLE.

I'd give Marbury the MLE and resign Powe, Davis, and Moore. I like the looks of this team for the start of next year. The only thing I would look to change would be using Scal, TA, and House as expiring deals for teams looking to lower cap space for 2010. We could end up with a very good player with the expiring deals we have.

i would kick moore out of the team, he should be inactivated for the playoffs when TA returns, total waste of roster spot. i want to keep scal, davis, powe,ta,house

I think Marbs will want some MLE money. The problem only really arises when we get someone else interested in coming here. Say Sheed. Can they both feel comfortable with half the MLE? Can we use the LLE on one of them and give them a longer contract with the wink wink to buy them out or let them retire early?

If Marbury fits in and plays well, I'd be content to settle for McDyess over Sheed. At least you know McDyess will play hard all the time and won't jeopardize the team by getting techs in important games.

Marbury is going to use the Celtics as a stepping stone to get starter minutes and starter pay next season. Fine with me as long as he helps the Celtics win a championship this season.

No kidding...anyone who thinks he actually cares about winning is nuts. At the end of the day when all is said and done, Marbury cares about Marbury, case closed...
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
