JT (20/12/3 blocks in college) was recruited by UCLA but stayed local at Rider to play with his brother, there probably wouldn't have even been a scholarship for Kevin Love if JT went to UCLA. When JT played against the more athletic Michael Beasley in a college game JT outscored him 24-13 yet Beasley was drafted higher because of his "potential" and he went to a basketball powerhouse called KSU instead of Rider. The athletic Carlos Boozer was such a stud he was taken in the second round. How many championships do you think Dwight Howard or Amare or Boozer the great athletic guys will win? As of now they have none and scrawny Tim Duncan has 3. Guess who was the guy dunking several times on Shaq and Amare on many occasions? JT. We have given away two 20/10 guys this year in Shelden and Gooden (Shelden had 22/11/4 blocks and a college defensive player of the year but the Kings have already committed to JT/Hawes). Donte Greene was close to a 20 point scorer his freshman year. Big point scoring bigs is not our weakness (a mature scoring big are a bigger problem) but PG is the big one. The Griffin/Beno combo just doesn't get it done for me like the Teague/JT combo is really exciting and no telling how far they can go.

No way we take Teuge with a top 3 pick. Look at JT's sophmore stats compared to Griffins if that is what you want to compare. Teague/JT= PAR, Teague/ Griffin = future in sacramento. Also if we are going to talk about Duncan, then we have to talk about him being an undisputed 1st overall pick (ala Blake Griffin).

If you really think that if we win the lotto we will take Teague, then I have no idea what to say to you. When you win the lotto (or top couple picks) you draft best available player. You don't draft for need. That would be like saying that last year the Bulls should have taken Brooke Lopez instead of the best overall player Rose, because they have no Center on there roster. Or Portland passing on Oden to take Conley because they already have big men, and only mediocre point guards. Just doesn't make sense when you really think about it does it? Spurs didn't pass on Duncan because they had Robinson on the team.

No we would probably not take Teauge with the top 3 pick. We would draft Rubio. But we have absolutely no guarantee that we get a top 3 pick--knowing stern, the odds are even worse. Comparing Duncan to Griffin because he was the number one pick doesn't make any sense. You compare abilities. JT is closer to Duncan than Griffin: Very fundamental, high IQ, humble guy. Griffin is best case scenario the second coming of Stoudemire which is good, but doesn't win championships. It's a good bet that JT and Hawes are future allstars, so I'd rather take the proven guy AND fill a much needed spot the PG position. Also Rubio may just be the BPA. It's unlikely but possible.

The Conley/Oden comparison is not a good one. No one thought Conley would eventually be a better pro than Oden, not even Mike's mother. Spurs took Duncan to play side by side Robinson. Just like if we had Hawes but not JT we would take Griffin. We have an opportunity to cover all the spots on our team with young, promising talent, and if we don't take advantage of this opportunity we're back at the bottom five next year. I am ok with drafting Griffin to trade down to get another piece and a PG (Teague, Curry, Holiday, etc.)

Rubio/Udrih
Martin/Garcia
Nocioni/Greene
Thompson/Diogu
Hawes/Blair

is SO much more balanced than...

Udrih/Lawson
Martin/Garcia
Nocioni/Greene
Thompson/Griffin
Hawes/Thompson

That gives Jennings or Teague with Griffin.

Jennings or Teague/ Udrih
Martin/ Belinelli
Nocioni/ Garcia
Griffin/ Nocioni/ Greene
Hawes/ Griffin/ Diogu

I take this lineup over either of yours anyday.
