Thoughts on Marbs??

Post#1 » by Bruiser » Mon Mar 2, 2009 1:38 pm

Hey yo!

I didn't catch last two matches so Marbury in green is still a mystery to me. I'd love some feedback/scouting from you guys. How did he look, how did he play, how did he behave...

I think he is a little bit overweighted, isn't he?

Feel free to say whatever you wanna.

Kind regards.

He looks like he's in good condition. I like how he hasn't been looking for his own offense and is thinking about others. Definitely a great backup. I do think that Paul has to let him handle the Ball more though when their in the game together.

Even in his 2nd game he looked good despite not scoring a point. I think the refs allowed Bynum to foul him too much though without blowing the whistle. Twice that little bastard lowered his head and rammed him like a rhino. They finally called Bynum for a foul when he rammed Rondo and Rajon fell to the ground and played dead.

He's definitely rusty. Needs a couple of weeks to get in game shape.

Not bad though for a guy who hasn't played since preseason. We could have easily won the game if Doc stopped putting Marbury on Hermann. We had Mikki, Powe and Paul in with him any of them would have been a better matchup.

as for his weight he insists he is in great shape

Marbury said he lost weight and gained strength while awaiting a contract settlement with the Knicks. He trained with AIM Sports Management in Manhattan Beach, Calif., and in Runyon Canyon in Hollywood. He weighs 199 pounds, about 11 less than his playing weight with the Knicks.

"When I was playing at that weight, I was still able to play the same style of basketball," Marbury said before the game. "But as I get older I've had to get my weight down, because of injuries, having surgery. It's a lot easier to prepare for games.Without [AIM], I wouldn't be able to do what I'm doing now. I did a lot of core balance. I was lifting 100-pound boulders - things I've never done before - swinging sledgehammers, kettlebells. It changed the structure of my body, I lost a lot of weight. This is the strongest I've ever been in my whole career."

It's too early to tell what he's going to bring to the table.
I would assume that he'll be fine and end up playing 20-25 mins per game total at the 1 and 2 spots.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him average 9ppg 4apg 2rpg for us down the stretch with a few big games of 17pts 6assists thrown in there.

Looks like he can help.

I'm not so sure about how well the Marbury-House lineup is going to work. It seems like Marbury is going to be hard pressed to defend most 2 guards.

Marbury was pretty rusty last game. He didn't respond well to bring the ball up against tight D which is to expected of a guy who hasn't played for six months. With that said he has definitely has the right mentality and I believe he will succeed. He's looking for others, being a team mate, and he is showing a desire to play D regardless of who he's guarding. When he gets into form, and learns the offense, he's going to be a great sixth man.

It's pretty early to say much other than he looks like he is in shape, playing with strong effort, and his court vision is really nice so far. He looks way better than I would have expected after being away from the game all season.

It's pretty awesome having a great passer coming off the bench.

Paul Pierce said this after Friday nights game that when he came back for an injury the first games he played great but it was the 2nd game where he felt the effects of not playing basketball at in NBA level in a month or so. So he said he think Marbury would pretty much suck in his 2nd game with the team. Looking at teh stats I think Paul was right on. I'm not excepting much for Marbury until KG comes back.
