The Redskins just signed Haynesworth to a seven year, $100 million dollar contract and gave Deangalo Hall a 6 year, $54 million dollar contract. They're also going after former Cowboys defensive end Chris Canty and former Ravens center Jason Brown.

"According to Schefter, the deal is the richest contract ever given to a player and includes more guaranteed money than any contract in NFL history has ever included."

It's a shame that guys like Haynesworth and Kelly get these ridiculous deals while guys who are actually dedicated and do all the right things like Reggie White never saw money like this. Sure these guys are talented but they aren't the type of guys who are gonna care in the long run about their teams records as long as the checks keep coming.

I had mild hope for Canty - but no chance really.

Try and Sign Dallas OLB Burnett, Dallas TE Curtis, Texans S Brown, maybe Chargers DE Igor if reasonable and some cheap backup ILB.
Resign Tauscher if he takes 1 year incentive deal. I expect he'll be offered more by someone.

I'm new to this FA stuff as I've focused on the Bucks the last week.

It there any chance the Packers sign ANYONE who would at least be the equivalent of a "Ryan Pickett" type signing?

This is a terrible FA class PP. The impact defensive FA's were Haynesworth, Peppers, Suggs, and to a lesser extent Ray Lewis and Bart Scott. The money these guys are getting just isn't worth it, it's going to be equivalent of paying Michael Redd $17M when he's 31/32 years old when they get in the last few years of their contracts.

TT needs to nail this draft cold. But otherwise, he appears focused on just keeping all of his talented players.

I will say that one guy we should be in on is Chris Canty. He's only 26, and is a stud DE in a 3-4 at 6-7/300. Then we could focus on OLB or Jenkins in the draft. I'd love a front 3 of Jenkins/Pickett/Canty, with Jolly/Cole/Harrell as the backup DL.

I wouldn't call him a stud, but he's a nice player.

Chris Canty will get a lot of money and offers thrown his way now that Albert is off the market. He will be paid a lot more than he is actually worth and so I say pass. TT will definetely not pursue this guy.

Not exactly, since the NFL doesn't have guaranteed contracts. I'd be amazed if Haynesworth actually gets close to $100 million when it's all said and done.

We should really be looking at Chris Canty. He is young and would be an excellent addition.

Then sign either a OL or DL via free agency.

With the #9 pick, take either position that we didn't get in FA.

The Packers plan to pursue Igor now that Canty is a New York Giant according to Rotoworld (source: JS Online).

Vic Carrucci with a list of sleepers. I'd be pretty thrilled with #1, #4 and #5 on that list.
