A friend of mine thinks that it's fair for the referees to play the assuming game and apply the "MJ Effect" on the superstar players.

"lmao dats da point the league is made for them, and it does make sense wen u drive more and show ur aggression u get more fouls than the average player so wen kobe and lebron and wade drive and actually miss its like damn how did they miss they drive all the time and make it it must hav been a foul, kevin durant and brandon roy said they noticed that and how the refs look more towards aggressive players instead of the passive ones"

Is it right for me to think that this friend is a completely moron?

he also said "lmao my argument isnt weak becuz thats how it is, how many times hav u seen wade get a foul that wasnt there while JJ gets punched in the throat and theres no call..dont bitch to me call up the refs and ask them if other nba players see it and ur the only one complaining idk wut to tell u"

Well he seems like a moron but not because of that argument. More aggressive players do get the benefit of the doubt more often. NBA refs are the worst, don't get me wrong, but they aren't always in position to make a perfect call and the guys that get inside and draw contact the most are the ones most likely to get the benefit of the doubt.

I have no problem with the best players getting the benefit of the doubt. The reality is guys that are strong and athletic and drive it to the cup get hit a lot. Lebron does his share of whining, but the dude takes a massive beating every game.

I just want to know why our star doesn't get the same calls that others do. I feel so bad for Joe, he doesn't cry to the refs at all or exaggerate anything, yet they give him zero respect.

Joe doesn't drive to the hole like those other guys either. He avoids contact at all costs. If he would try to go in strong like he did against the Cavs on a consistent basis he may get more calls,but stopping and throwing up a sissy floater isn't going to get u calls. Joe needs to get his waves messed up for once.

The reason Joe shoots the "sissy floater" is that he doesn't have the same hops as most stars. He can't go up strong in the same way that a guy like Lebron does, he has to be crafty around the basket and that's the reason for the floater.
