We have to match up perfectly in my opinion to pull a warriors deal. We may be able to steal a game, but Boston or Cleveland will sweep us I believe. I think we could steal 1 or maybe 2 away from Orlando. It's not that I "don't have faith" because I absolutely love our team. I'm just trying to be a little realistic. I'd be fine with us making the playoffs so the young guys can get a taste of it, but I'm hoping we can land in the lottery. We have some tough games coming up. I think we'll be a 6-10 pick when all is said and done. I think that we have the chips to trade up to land Harden. Unfortunately, I think this draft is pretty top heavy so trading up may be difficult. There are some solid players projected to come out, but guys I see with star potential is slim.

I agree with you, and not only because anything can happen... we are a young team, and making the playoffs would be good for some of our guys... I'm thinking about Brook and Yi in particular, and Devin who could show that he can guide the team.
It's not much about stealing a couple of games, it's a matter of experience and self-confidence that they will use in the next years.

Edit: Also, I think next draft will be a poor one.

Personally I want to TANK.

But if we are 1 game away from the playoffs, WE have to try to make it. The pick if we dont really sucks.

If we just miss the playoffs by one or a few games, Thorn better take a deep look at this season and THIS DAMN COACH. Because I would be pissed. A game like the Hornets should really question your Head Coach. The worse thing it wasnt the first time Frank F'ed a WIN. He admitted to do so in the past.

Sorry, buddy. Thread titles need to be a bit descriptive. And my avi isn't organized mafia...it's Bond. It's legal organized crime.

As for the topic, everyone knows my feelings on being in the middle of the league. However, I don't condone tanking.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing. But yeah...I'm a small Bond fanatic. I own all twenty-one movies that have been released on DVD.

I say... TANK!

I'm not saying don't suit any of the vets, but try to limit Devin and VC to 36mpg, get CDR (for the future) and Sean (for trade value) more PT, and slide down the around the 6th pick in the draft. I normally wouldn't pursue this course of action, but we have an absolutely brutal schedule the rest of the way. We really should have made a move for a SF when we had the chance. Mike Miller could have been had for Swift + GSW 1st. But we chose to drag our feet, and now we face a STEEP uphill battle just to finish near .500. Even if we do, we are no match for Cleveland, Orlando or Boston in the 1st round. So, we'll end up wearing out our vets (hey, I'm trying to trade VC this summer, before he pulls a T-Mac on us!) for the satisfaction of getting annihilated in the playoffs, and dropping 10 spots in the draft????

This may not be a popular sentiment, but we're pointing in that direction anyway. Going against the grain of an almost inevitable losing season is honorable, but not smart in many ways.
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

I hate using the word tank because I want my team to play hard, but I don't think we are going to make the playoffs. There are too many teams ahead of us with more experience and we have such a hard schedule remaining. So as much as I would want to make the playoffs I don't think it's gonna happen. The last think I want to happen is miss the playoffs by 1 game. So just for the fact that I don't think we can make the playoffs I would rather fade a bit and get the 7th, 8th, or 9th pick the 14th pick would be disappointing. Look what 10th got us last year. I just hope we continue to play hard and we are there in the end of games looking the Boston's and the Cleveland's in the face saying we ain't goin nowhere. But if we lose them I won't be that upset, they've already exceeded my expectations already.

Push for the playoffs. Making the playoffs to try and get the fanbase back would be "best for the franchise."

If we couldn't build a fanbase with back to back finals runs, I doubt a first round exit is gonna do it. Wishful thinking though.

The whole idea of being a fan is rooting for your team to WIN, remember?

The only thing tanking gets you is a F in my book. And trust me you don't want to get on my bad side.

Haha hopefully I'm not. I never once mentioned tanking in my post. I just said we have a tough road ahead and didn't think we'll make the playoffs, but I'd be ok with it if we did. Then again, I think David Stern rigs the lottery (among other things) so where we finish is a moot point with me lol.

Yeah, but it's a better feeling rooting for a team whose playoff run isn't decided before the All-Star break. Look, being in the middle of the league with no money to spend is the worst position in the league. The best place is of course being in contention. The place after is at the bottom, especially with the great young pieces we have. Build with high draft picks that could be great role players to even franchise players, get under the salary, and then you sign away with all the free cap relief to compliment the players you have.

Again, I don't condone tanking. However, look at this year's draft and take a look at the drop in talent from around the Top 7 and the rest of the first round. It would be much better to develop the decent young guys (Brook, Yi, Anderson, CDR, SeanWill) with the stars (Harris and VC) than with the likes of Hassell, Simmons, Najera (I really believe had he not be injured, he would see a good amount of burn). They'll learn from their mistakes on a season that won't mean much and they don't have Frank lowering their confidence by benching them every time they make a mistake.

When they are playing a game, I want them to win. When I am looking at the future of the team I am not going to be so naive to pretend that a lottery pick won't give them a chance at a significantly better team next year.
