Is it just me, or does Minnesota just try and go after division FAs every off-season just to spite us? Sharper, Longwell, Ferguson. Not to mention they wanted Kampman a few years ago, and tried to go after Favre last year. Granted, I am being a bit sarcastic seeing as they all fill needs, but it seems like something they would do. I wouldn't mind seeing Tauscher stay for many reasons, but I would completely understand if we let him walk. Besides, I think he'll actually get paid more than he's worth, seeing as he's on the down side of his career, and he's coming off a serious injury.

He's a great guy to have on your team but at his age and with his injury I wouldn't offer him a whole lot. The problem is our OL sucks, there isn't much out there in free agency and I guess we will rely on the draft and hope we get lucky. But we need guys on the OL who can contribute now, not hopefully 3 years down the road.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I wouldnt offer him much. Make it a non guarantee deal. Make it incentive based like he has to play all 16 games to get like the veteran minimum. lol

I felt pretty bad for him when he got injured. Even at his age he would have still gotten a pretty nice deal. That injury robbed him of perhaps $10 million in guaranteed money.
Unless the Packers can land one of the top OTs in the draft, I think they're fine going into '10 with Colledge at RT and Clifton at left. Personally, I'd be looking hard at Andre Smith right now. Monroe and Jason Smith are veritable locks to be gone. But with the other Smith's shenanigans it's now possible he drops right into our lap. That's an elite talent that may be hard to pass up. Unlike Oher, who has character questions and consistency issues on the field, Smith has never had problems inside the lines.

I think Smith could be a good RT and an all-pro G, but he's too short for LT. I guess I wouldn't be too pissed if we took him at 9, but I would rather trade down a bit and pick up Oher if we decided to go OL in round 1.
