Let me preface my remarks by conceding that I am a Magic fan and I came to this board to see the Phoenix reaction to Shaq's comments. Let me apologize on our behalf for the obvious trolling here by a Magic fan throughout this thread.

That said, I am rather disappointed by Shaq's comments.

As a Magic fan since the franchise began I have virtually always been a fan of Shaq. With the exception of the first couple of years after he left Orlando I have rooted for him to win but never more so than when he moved over to the Suns in what I though would be a pretty good trade for the Suns despite the heat Kerr took for the move. However, I thought what he said about SVG was classless, petty and immature. Moreover, his constant derision of Dwight shows a blatant insecurity that he has no reason to harbor. Dude is clearly one of the best big man ever in the league and without doubt the best big since Russell and Wilt. It simply reflects terribly to provide the consistently petty and demeaning comments towards Dwight that he does.

Dwight does not have any rings and is not near the player that Shaq was at the prime of his career and no one is asserting that. Will he get to that level -- who knows, maybe, maybe not. But for Shaq to continue harp on Dwights game and attack him at every opportunity (and no go after his coach in a very aggressive and classless fashion) is extremely disappointing. Especially, in light of Dwight's consistently respectful responses.

I still like Shaq but he needs to find some self-confidence somewhere. Dude is one of the greatest bigs of all time and he needs to start acting like it instead of a classless jerk.

I thought the 2 pretty much evened each other out. I'd give Shaq an edge in the first half after Dwight picked up a number of silly fouls taking himself out of the game. I'd give Dwight a clear edge in the second half when Shaq seemed to tire a bit. All told, I did not see "domination" by either big man.

We have a lot more history than you do with him. I've followed Shaq for about 20 years since I saw him play several times at LSU most notably in dismantling my Gators. I've been a big fan but his comments are very disappointing and, imo, totally classless. Its sad. One of the best players of all time . . . its too bad he's going to go out like this.
