What is TT's lifeline?

I don't understand why TT isn't interested in Holliday.

Holliday would come cheaper than a guy like Canty, and provide close to the same level of production. Holliday's age is irrelevant; he would be a stopgap for at most a couple years. It would allow for a younger player to be groomed for the position. Even if Holliday was to lose the starting job in training camp somehow, the team would still have quality depth.

There must be more to the story, or maybe Ted has his sights set on someone else.

Sure he is not going to come in and set the league on fire, but he can play a solid end in the 3-4 and be a serviceable veteran player until a young guy is ready to step in in 2 years. Unless DB you just want to start all of our young players with no veterans and have them get destroyed. Just dont understand your line of thinking on this one

Patriots succeed picking up old guys who can still contribute to fill holes.
At a low cost - even as a backup and emergency starter for 2years he would be helpful.
But TT is going with youth (again). That's OK if we win.

Oh come on guys. Vonnie Holliday? Really? There's a difference between picking up a 27 year old free agent with a chance to get better rather than a 33 year old that's aboslutely going to get worse the second he signs his deal.

There is no mystery here, nothing going on behind the scenes. He's 33 years old. If he wants to come in for the veteran minimum, then hell, sign him up. But he's not worth more than that.

Holliday himself is secondary to me, i just don't want our DL depth to be garbage like it was last year to where if someone gets hurt, only scrubs are available to step in and it wreaks havoc on he rest of the defense. The NFL is a very violent sport, you almost have to assume injuries, not be surprised if they happen.
