Someone said a few days ago that there was a memo sent out to the league stating that Yao was fair game to be refereed differently than any other player in the league (that or there were a list of players for whom this was acceptable). Does anyone have a link to the memo or a copy of its text?
Thanks!

Re: Yao Memo
I had not heard this either but I remember when Gundy got in trouble for making such accusations and he was quickly bitch-slapped by Stern.
Good times. I'd be interested in reading such a memo, if in fact it does exist and this is not just some sort of trickery(or moofery? Yea, that sounds cooler).

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Re: Yao Memo
Is McHale writing memos now?
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Don't really know. Just know I saw 2-3 people talking about some memo, asked about it, got no answer, and can't find whatever thread it was mentioned in anymore.

Re: Yao Memo
Haha nice. I very much suspect that Stern pulls mob muscle (don't know exactly why, so don't bother asking). Never saw that article. It looks like some "flexing" was going on. But no, while interesting to see, not what I was looking for.

Re: Yao Memo
I think the Rockets brass would be up in arms about something like this.
But Yao is reffed poorly. Its sort of a catch 22 for him. Where Shaq and Howard get a lot of calls going their way in terms of fouls...they are poor foul shooters so you won't see those guys average the 35-40 points a game someone like Yao would average if he got calls going his way. I think the most Shaq averaged in a season is 28 a game. Imagine if he shot 86% from the foul line....
I think Yao is in a position of his own. He is a big guy that can score almost anytime he wants AND they can't call fouls against him b/c he shoots FTs extremely well and that would in turn disrupt the 'fairness' of NBA basketball and the overall 'balance' of the game.
What all this means....you can't rely on Yao to carry your team b/c among other things...he is never gonna get calls consistently going his way....games like last night happen way more often that maybe some of you like to believe. And I know...we all want to hope for something great this season...but what we saw last night and the numerous other nights where Yao is reffed ridiculously is going to happen too often in a 7 games series.

Re: Yao Memo
Yao needs to accidentally smash the basketball in someones face when they try to cheap shot him. "o it was an accident so its ok huh ref? you **** pice of ****." **** the refs, they'll never ref yao like they should.
