MK v. DC is fun. I've enjoyed SFIV more though.

UFC Unleashed is on fairly often and Spike shows a lot of past fights.
The Ultimate Fighter reality program (when it is on) is great stuff to watch for both the human interest and the weekly fights all culminating at the end of the season with a Vegas fight.

The winners of ultimate fighter have a pretty decent track record in normal UFC, too, so you know it's at least up to par.
The key is the PPVs though.
I'm thinking about getting SF IV, it would be through Gamefly though so I decide whether to buy it after I've played it a little. I really lost touch with fighting games after SFII and MKII, games like Tekken just required too much combo memorization for me. I did like the Soul Calibur games, perhaps because they're basically button mashers. But this is supposed to be a revolutionary game, so I should give it a try.

Re: Off Topic Thread
Oh man I can't believe I missed a two page videogame discussion before this last one... now I have further comments.
As I already mentioned, I too have gamefly, I've really enjoyed it because it's given me a chance to play several games that I liked a lot. I just got my PS3 for Christmas, but I think all of these comments on the games I've played so far still apply to XBox users:
Fallout 3 is an absolute classic. It's probably not for everyone because it's so big and it's really an RPG not a shooter, but if you ever played Oblivion or Morrowind, it's basically the same system but with a very different setting. Really stellar, open-ended world with incredible detail, the joy of exploration, tons of treasure and quests, plus the fun of shooting mutants in the face.
Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty World at War are basically the same, awesome FPS, 4 set in modern times and WaW being another WWII game. Their system of gaining "XP" for achieving challenges, getting kills, and winning games unlocks new weapons, new attachments, and new special abilities. Incredibly addictive, I've played like 60 hours of it in the past couple months.
Assassin's Creed: I'm a bit more ambivalent about this game. You basically free-run around Jerusalem, Damascus, and Acre during the time of the Crusades. It's sadly not that deep of a game, and can be a little repetitive (I would have liked it more if it was basically Grand Theft Auto: Medieval), but it's pretty satisfying and if you liked Prince of Persia at all, is well worth a Gamefly rental. The story is in my opinion fantastic, but it definitely ends with "stay tuned for the sequel!" (If you do rent it, SIT THROUGH THE CREDITS)
NBA2k9: As others have said, the best basketball game, and that's that. I also play a lot of NCAA Football, but that's probably not your thing.
Anyway, I have a Wii as well, but after playing through Mario and Zelda (which are all-time classic games, they're honest-to-god 10s) I haven't really seen anything else I particularly want to do. It gathered a lot of dust over the past year. I have Okami, Metroid Prime 3, and No More Heroes in my queue, but that's it for now. I will agree with Walt and Chabber that Trauma Surgeon was a fun game, and Resident Evil 4 is absolutely fabulous, legitimately in the running for my all-time favorite game. I could not be more excited for 5.

Re: Off Topic Thread
If you liked Fallout 3...then Fallout 1 and 2 are a must play. They are only for PC and made about 10 years ago, so pretty old and they don't have the pretty graphics. So if you are a teenage gamer snob, like half the population is, you probably won't like older games. However, the storyline and gameplay in each are so good...much better than Fallout 3 in my opinion. If anyone wants to try, I can upload them..they aren't found in stores anymore I think.
As for me and video games...its solely on the PC aside from Wii Fit and various other Wii games. Right now I'm hooked on DotA, which is a modification of Warcraft III and an excellent strategy game. Then I play the usual Day of Defeat/Counterstrike/all Half Life games (which I think is an excellent series...one of the greats in video game history).
I'm sort of a "history of video games" buff, but don't consider myself a nerd, since I like sports and NASCAR and play sports so much. Haha. So if anyone wants a civil discussion, then i'll entertain. However, I'm more of a Nintendo loyalist I'm really not interested in XBox and I think PS3 is more a entertainment machine than a video game console.

Re: Off Topic Thread
I tried to play them on my PC once I realized I was going to get to play Fallout 3, but... I really couldn't do it, I thought they were unbearably slow. I think that I could have gotten into them if I had pushed on, but around 2 hours into Fallout 2 when I was still spearing swamp creatures I just decided it wasn't worth it.
Obviously the graphics are horrible in comparison to today, but to me it was in fact the gameplay that I couldn't deal with (even just walking around town was kind of excruciating). I have no doubt the story was compelling though. If anyone is interested in trying them though, you can totally find them online. There are some issues with compatibility of course given how old they are, but it's definitely doable.
I don't really understand the issue of "loyalty" to a system... at this point the XBox and PS3 have like 90% of their games in common, I just chose the PS3 because of Blu-Ray, free internet, and the built-in Wi-Fi, which made up for the price gap. But I have a Wii too, and Nintendo has been incredibly good to me over the years. I will probably be playing Zelda and Mario until I die. At this point the only game I would like to play on XBox that are not on PS3 are Fable and Mass Effect.... maybe Gears of War, but I feel like I have too many shooters on my plate already with Killzone, Resistance 2, and Call of Duty.

mass effect was a fun game. wasted lots of hours on that one, although the side missions on the random planets and driving parts got really old, fast.

I never got into Sonic, even back in the Genesis days. I did have a Dreamcast however, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Sorry Walt and chabber, and late-addition Paydro70, but BigSlam wins the Nerd-Off.
I remember when I used to like playing games, but now a four-page discussion about them irritates me. I am getting old.

I remember Hamilton mentioning his age some previous time... but for the first year or so I was on this board (not knowing his age) I definitely always assumed he was 40.

Re: Off Topic Thread
I knew he was in his late 20's, I was just messing with him.
I've known Hamilton since our days of posting on ESPN.com's Charlotte Hornets board, back in 1999-2001. I had a different s/n then but me, him, some guy named "deebo" and "hornets_2842" or something (i think it was Mashburn's jersey number) were like the only regular posters.

ON WHAT GROUNDS WAS THIS PRESTIGIOUS TITLE AWARDED!? WHAT TYPE OF DISTINGUISHED GOVERNING BODY DECLARES THEIR CHAMPION-NERD BASED ON AN ACT OF TAINTING ONES SKIN IN THE NAME OF IDOLATRY OF A HEDGEHOG AHEAD OF A PLETHORA OF ACTIVITIES COMMONLY ASSOCIATED WITH NERDDOM!?
THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

Panther fans are (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
"No need to get Tory Holt, we have Jarrett as our #3 who is young and improving"
I just want to smack some of them in the face most of the time. They said the EXACT same things about Drew f'ing Carter and Keary Colbert when we had the chance to get some WR's on the market.
