Disappointed in choice of banner advertising

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Wed Mar 4, 2009 3:06 am

Playboy guys? Really? I'm one of thousands here that view the boards from work or school or both. I'm not looking forward to closing out my browser when that new Aubrey O'Day advertisement shows up all over my screen.

Bad move guys.

The ads are chosen by Google based on the keywords on the page.

There needs to be a better way of restricting ads though. Ultimately it's realgm who should control what displays on their site.

I just got one of those beeping ads. They are so damn annoying, please get rid of them! I'm watching the game on my PC and commenting on realgm at the same time. If I have to choose between the game and a beeping realgm page, I'm closing realgm. Fix it guys, don't see how this helps the site at all.

The ad that links to this site HAS to go. It makes a Windows error noise every 3 seconds. I put inthe extra .'s to keep it unclickable.

We have removed the ads that make noises from our site.

Thank you for the feedback about the Playboy ads, Drug Bust. We will take it into consideration for the future. We typically don't run any ads that are suggestive at all, especially compared to other men's and sports sites and our standards are considered very high in this industry.

Question about keyword text ads--if my post contains one of the "keywords" (say, career or health) that Google would normally highlight, but as a hyperlink to another site (say, Bill Walton's career stats on B-R), does my link supersede Google's?

RealGM - for all your NBA needs!

But without the asterisk.

Bill Walton was never healthy during his career.

Edit: I hyperlinked only "career", so it seems like my link took precedence over Google adwords.

This CBS Triple Play ad that rolls back the edge of the page is incredibly aggravating.

^I agree, that add is simply awful, it'd be great if it could be removed.
