I just wanted to post this because I love this analysis. Spot on.
9. Green Bay Packers: Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio State.
The most common misconception that bugs me coming out of Indy: that Jenkins’ poor 40 time is really hurting his draft stock. Here’s an inside tip on what teams want in corners: explosive agility, and the bigger the better. Jenkins had the best combined 3-cone/20-yard shuttle times of any player at the Combine. Can you say explosive agility? It doesn’t hurt that he’s one of the biggest DBs in this class. The only time a corner’s 40 time is important is when they get beat, and Jenkins proved time and again at Cornerback U. that he’s awful tough to beat.

Re: New RGM Mock
In rounds 2 and 3 it has us with Jarron Gilbert, Rashad Johnson, and Ashlee Palmer. Gilbert I'd be ok with, Johnson I'd be furious with, and I know nothing about Palmer. Anyone got the dish on him?

Athletic 4-3 WLB. I don't know why he has us taking him. Or Johnson for that matter.
That draft would be a home run if his round three picks were Cody Brown, DE/OLB from Uconn and Jamon Meredith, OT from South Carolina.
1 - Malcolm Jenkins - CB/S - Ohio State
2 - Jarron Gilbert - DE/DT - San Jose State
3 - Cody Brown - DE/OLB - Connecticut
4 - Jamon Meredith - OT - South Carolina
That has to be three perfect rounds, right? My guess is both Meredith and Brown come off the board in round two, though.
Lot of depth at key positions in this class.

I'd be pretty psyched if thats the way it went down. I'm not as sold on brown as a OLB, but wouldn't be upset if we went that route. The upside is there.

Re: New RGM Mock
Jenkins seems like he may be the safest pick in the top 10. He seems like he is already a very skilled player, but he also has a high ceiling. I don't know if I can say that about most of the other options. I wouldn't be upset with that pick.
If he is taken before the Packers' pick, then I'd probably prefer a trade down scenario.

I'd look to deal down if Raji isn't there. Even though I don't necessarily see his best fit as a NT in a 3-4, he's worth the risk because of the position he plays and the depth (or lack there of) in this class of DTs. We'll also see the Packers in a good amount of four down lineman situations where he's playing next to Pickett and Kampman.
There are only a handful of players I can say with 100% certainty will be gone:
Aaron Curry
Jason Smith
Eugen Monroe
Michael Crabtree
After that, I've seen every other name fall to Green Bay or further.
Stafford is set to drop like a rock if Detroit doesn't take him.
Andre Smith has his character issues
Raji is sort of an enigma.
Brown/Orakpo/Maybin. Orakpo seems to be the only one comfortably in the top 10, but even he isn't a lock.
Jenkins didn't run in the 4.4s
With my first rounder I would be extremely mindful of depth at other positions. It burned the Packers when they took Hawk in a LOADED linebacker class. Unless they think the guy they take is the next Demarcus Ware I'd look hard at waiting until round two, maybe even round three.

No draftniks are saying it, but I think Jamon Meredith is quietly moving ahead of Britton and Beatty on some boards. Duane Brown was projected as a late 2nd, early 3rd guy throughout almost the entire draft process and then went in the 1st. I'd be happy with Meredith in the 2nd, but I like Gilbert better. I'm also a big Sebastian Vollmer fan. There's a video of him up on draftguys' website. He has amazing size, very good feet, and he's a smart, intense player. He'll now go as high as the 4th round.

Re: New RGM Mock
I see that Duane Brown thing mentioned all the time when people talk about the run on tackles. I had him as a first rounder most of last offseason and when he went off the board I wasn't surprised at all. Sam Baker was the guy that caught me off guard. I thought he was a second rounder, for sure.
But I understand the idea of positions seeing runs in round one. This year people are expecting to see that with wide receivers, but like last season I could see it with OTs. Tackle starved clubs could go with Beatty, Britton and Meredith as early as the late teens. Who knows, maybe Fulton and Loadholt sneak into round one.
I wouldn't mind. While we certainly need an OT, something like that would mean other prospects are pushed down.
