OT: Univ of Texas at Austin Law

Anyone been to this campus? Go to the school? What are your impressions? How do Rockets fans view Austin?

Thinking of applying here next year, and depending on several variables, maybe even ED.

I go to UT right now. It's the best school ever. Distinguished in every category and the campus is amazing. It is big though. Huge.

Austin is the perfect college city. Not too big, not too small. I have absolutely no complaints.
I'm also convinced that Austin has the best downtown scene in the nation. I've been to all the big cities and the only one that beats it is New Orleans for Mardi Gras.

I go to UT right now and it's amazing. The law school is ranked top 15 nationally, and everything about this part of Austin and the campus is simply awesome. Maybe it's pure bias speaking, but I think most people would agree.

I just graduated from UT and it is truly a great place to be, although I moved back to Houston mostly due to my closeness to friends and family. I grew up my whole life in Houston, love Houston, will probably spend my whole life here, and have the skyline tattooed on my arm for Christ's sake. But if you don't feel the absolute need to be in a huge, ball-busting city....there isn't a better place to be in my opinion. As far as UT goes, the campus is great, constantly expanding, the facilities are top notch which is amazing considering how many buildings it contains and how old the university itself is, and your truly feel like you are in an encompassing scholastic setting there. I guess it is best summed as...it is easy to 'be a student' there.

I'm going to law school myself, except I'll be at U of H. My LSAT's did not quite meet UT standards, although I admittedly prayed they would....only school I would have moved away from Houston for (outside of your obvious Yale, NYU, Stanford selection).

sweet, thanks for the feedback. austin has always seemed like a cool city to me (mostly because of sxsw and acl, haha), and it'd be cool to live in texas for a while. i'll have to give it some thought, and it's contingent on my lsats, but it looks like a great place

I don't think Rooks is in law school. I believe one the of member here is a lawyer or some sort. Forgot who. I wonder how many Rockets fans on this board go to UT.

GTO is a lawyer, speaking of him, haven't seen him in a LONG time, he's hilarious though.

I'm at UT. Obviously, Texas Longhorns was before he got waived (well, still probably is).

Not right now, but that's where I'll be headed after undergrad here at UT. Though it pains me to whore myself out, any help you could provide in terms of finding an internship opportunity would be GREATLY appreciated :D

Some people call it whoring, others call it networking and corporatism, but what's in a name, eh? ;)

I know a few people, but not too many on the law side. One of them isn't established yet, so probably not much help there, another is ... in louisiana, um.... There are the ones at my company, who I know, but would prefer not to talk to. Will see if I can find anyone else, but don't know how effective it could be.

My professional networks are still kinda scrawny. :-/
