Stephen Curry to the Lakers? (draft)
Its not a trade proposal, the thread is meant to discuss the possibility, probability, impossibility and or improbability of the matter.
Rationale:
- Stephen Curry is a light guard who has excellent range and will no doubt fit the Lakers need for the combo guard.
- The Lakers will own the 28th or 29th pick in the draft - adding cash, 2nds or some other asset for the upgrade.
- Stephen Curry is projected to be out of the top 10 this June thus if he places anywhere in the 16-21 range, the additional investment will not be too unrealistic to imagine.
Thoughts?

I don't think he'll fall that low IMO.

No need to trade up, it's not like Stephen Curry will get that much PT here, he'll develop slower if he comes here. We need players that can help us out right away...

Why are we getting the 28 or 29 pick? Don't we have the best record in the league?

Re: Stephen Curry to the Lakers
where would he fit in?
not that it would matter because we're not getting him
we're not trading up and he's not falling down

Ha, that's funny.
So we're getting Stephan Curry with the 28th or 29th, pick if we throw them a few second rounders and some cash? C'mon bro do you watch the draft much? Who wants the LAL second round picks, which are obsolete picks? Cash. Cash? So we're gonna make it rain to get into the top ten, is that how the NBA Draft works now? Might as well throw in a bag of lollipops while we're at it, that should put us over the top in any dealings. Where do you get your NBA draft info off the Lil' Wayne CD or something? Is this Dexmor AKA Star24?
I just did a search I found him in various mocks projected at 7, 14, 9, 11. He's not much of a defender, has a small frame, not very athletic, but is one of the best shooters in memory. A few sites list him at 6-3, but others at 6-1 (that always pisses me off. Beasley is listed at 6-10, but the dude is really 6-7 without shoes). He is playing PG this year after last year playing off guard so that's a plus.
I don't see him as a PG of the future in the LAL organization. Look at all these brilliant PG's in the league now, CP3, DWill, Rose, now my boy Westbrook (who we should told him to tank it so we could swoop him up in a trade (yeah that's not collusion

NBA DRAFT...I'm wondering who's going to have the biggest chance at drafting Rubio #1 it looks like it's between WSH and SAC, I think WSH will have the most ping pong balls, so let's say they get Rubio, after they just signed the glass managerie breakable Gil for a Gillion Dollars that make me sick to my stomach if i was the owner of that team. The crazy part is they signed him to that deal when he was down with injury, he came back for a cup of coffee to prove he was going to be OK, when he wasn't fully healed, got his amazing contract, and went down again.

Re: Stephen Curry to the Lakers
Bottom line..............the Lakers will have the LAST pick, and they WON'T be able to draft Curry at all. This topic is a false perception of things that won't happen, the reality is the team will probably use this years 1st round pick to select another front line guy. We have no need for another guard and a tweener like Curry usually struggles because of the complexity of trying to play a position he never fully exceled at.
Curry by position plays point but his game is built like a 2 guard,in the right situation he'll be another Monte Ellis but just a better deep range shooter than Monte. You guys need to really comprehend DubaLakers post because it's on point. Infactuation with a player is one thing, but trying to sell him to everybody else is another. Don't get me wrong Curry is nice, be he's going to struggle at the NBA level for a minute until he figures it out. He doesn't fit our situation........period.

Re: Stephen Curry to the Lakers
I think if there is one team in which Curry can excel at, it would be the Lakers. He has decent size, great shooting, fights hard on defense and is very clutch, sounds a lot like Fisher to me. He is not going to be Chris Paul, but he is certainly going to be an effective player for us in the future. I would love it if we draft him provided he falls down to us at the bottom of the first round, but I doubt that will happen.

Perfect player for the Laker, but I doubt it that he falls that low.

Re: Stephen Curry to the Lakers
if you can get Kobe Bryant after he he's drafted 13th by the Charlotte Hornets you can do anything!
But seriously he won't fall out of the top 10.

Re: Stephen Curry to the Lakers
For one second there I thought I was getting a lecture.
Anyways, possibilty review:
Knicks send: Jeffries + 09 pick (after lotto, most likely top 8)
Lakers send: Farmar + Ammo + Lakers pick
Perhaps cash here and there.
Knicks get a solid PG in Farmar, while maximizing 2010. Would it be enough motivation?
And for the Lakers, I see the doubt. But would it be enough compensation?
Again, its not saying Curry WILL EVER BE deron or cp3, its just that his range and the ability to bring the ball up should be perfect for the TRI ala Ron Harper. His size makes it iffy - but you have to appreciate the range and the IQ.

Dude, that was 1996, high school players weren't such a hot draft pick since other than Moses Malone then KG in 1995, Kobe wasn't a playing that teams were willing to pick up with the lottery, however, Charlotte ended up taking that risk, which got us Kobe for Vlade, which is why i STILL say Vlade has been one of the most important players to ever wear P&G, he got us Kobe and he had no ill feelings towards us, he even came and finished his career here! anywho, i just wanted to chime in and say that getting Kobe at 13th is a MAJOR MAJOR rarity i mean MJ went 3rd!
i don't see the need for this thread tho, we should have fantasy thread for posters like this cuz ur deal to get Curry is a ridiculously dreamy situation that won't come true.
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick?
Fultz, Ball or Bust

I think even if he goes at 18 which we won't he will probably go earlier a team will look at him as a steal and think he has potential to be a star and they wouldn't trade him for the 30th pick which would be ours.

Rubio won't go #1 if he comes out this year. Blake Griffin will. The team that drafts him will not own his rights and will have to pay his team to let him go I think. Good luck with that. That could really impact where he gets drafted.

Re: Stephen Curry to the Lakers? (draft)
I am definitely not sold on Curry. He could be Monta Ellis, he could be Quincy Douby. Let him be someone else'e problem, the Lakers need DEFENSE at the point, to which Curry is seemingly allergic.
