Josh Smith to Toronto

Post#1 » by KSR » Sat Mar 7, 2009 7:05 pm

Toronto offers sign and trade Shawn Marion 3 years at 27 million for Josh Smith.
Or we offer Jose Calderon and Jason Kapono for Smith
or if you guys want blockbuster...Toronto offers Chris Bosh for Josh Smith and Al Horford

What do you guys think?

The Bosh deal is intriguing.

Calderon and Kapono though? Come on now...

I would consider Calderon and your 1st if we're going to have to take on Kapono's contract.

I'm not totally against a deal centered around Bosh and Smith as long as there are some worthy incentives attached to Smith.

Josh Smith for ONE YEAR of Chris Bosh? NO, and you can forget about Al Horford in such a deal.

All of these are bad.

Why give up a nice young Horford for Bosh who is likely to bolt?
Calderon and Kapono? Bad, just bad.

I'm pretty sure the OP assumed it was an extended Bosh.

There is no reasono to get rid of Horford at this point.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

You mean you're assuming a SNT?

I'd consider a Josh and Al for Bosh (extended) and Calderon deal - maybe swap firsts and hope that Sund could pull off a real coup and bring in a good big man.

Calderon-Joe-Marv-Bosh-Diop (temporary). Would definitely appeal to me.

Marion under Coach Woodson would be a failure. He complained about Miami not playing at the speed he's use to (Phoenix) and he would do the same with Atlanta. He'd probably even complain about the lack of leadership on the team as well.

I wouldn't go near Marion and I wouldn't trade for Bosh without an extension negotiated even then I'm not sure I want to include Horford to get him. I don't see us matching up right now.

As much as I would love Al and Josh smith, I dont know if i really want to face Joe and Chris.

One of Chris Bosh's main problem is that he doesn't have a scoring SG that is clutch to take the pressure off of him. With Joe, Chris would explode.

I would rather make a trade for joe johnson, that didn't center around Bosh, we all know that's not happening. lol

I actually think Horford will end up being the best in the long run out of him and Smoove, and Marv.

what about something on the lines of:

Raptors Trade:
Chris Bosh $14,410,581 (Signed to an extension)
Nathan Jawai $442,114
3 million Cash(Miami Deal)

For:

Atlanta Trades:
Josh Smith $10,000,000 BYC(5 million)
Marvin Williams $5,636,142 S&T BYC(9 million but you use his previous salary)
Randolph Morris $797, 581

- Resign Bibby or another point guard
- Resign Zaza Pachulia
- Sign Childress
- Draft Derozan with their pick
- Buy late pick with Cash draft hansbrough
- Sign Joe Smith (vet minimum)
- Resign Ronald Murray

Bibby/Law/Claxton
Johnson/Evans/Murray
Childress/Derozan
Bosh/Smith/Hansbrough
Horford/Pachulia/Jawai

is that something you guys would do or would you need more from the toronto end?

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

^ Obviously, we'd trade Marvin and Josh for Bosh, but only if he re-upped first. No one's stupid enough to trade for Bosh unless the Raps do a sign and trade.
