An Open Letter to Mark Cuban (3-7-09 Wizards vs. Mavericks)
Dear Mr. Cuban,
First and foremost I would like to take a moment to compliment you on your devotion to the Mavericks and your passion for the game of basketball. While I myself admit I am frequently frustrated by Daniel Snyder, a local franchise owner with a similar modus operandi who tends to meddle more than I would like, I am sure that if I had the opportunity to own an NBA franchise I would run it in much the same way that you do yours.
And it is about the Mavericks that I would like to speak to you. Early in this decade yours was one of the most entertaining teams in basketball. The troika of Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash and Michael Finley was overpowering offensively and with role players like current Wizard favorite Antawn Jamison and Nick Van Exel backing them up yours was a truly incredible offensive team. Granted, it was not such an incredible defensive team, but you won plenty of games anyway. It saddened me a little when you and your front office staff began to make a more concerted effort to focus on defense, but I could not fault your intentions.
What I would like to draw your attention to, however, is what appears to be a systematic, if hopefully unintentional, uglification of the roster over the last half decade. For a fan who once enjoyed the Mavs both for their free flowing offense and the free flowing locks of Steve Nash and pleasant smile of Raja Bell, having to watch the likes of Eric Dampier (whose long socks are still not retro in a good way) and Jason Terry (whose headband does not disguise the size of his head, though I do appreciate that he tries) among others is no longer a pleasant prospect. It does not help that your current uniform package is far from my favorite. The net result is that the Mavericks are, among successful NBA teams, the least enjoyable to watch. I hope that in writing to you I have drawn this issue to your attention and I thank you in advance for the smackdown your (rather ugly) team is about to administer to my Wizards. Thank you for your time.

Best game thread yet.
On the other hand, I render a protest here. Any roster with Antoine Walkaaah is always in contention for the ugly prize, far as I'm concerned.

Hmmm, Nowitzki & Dampier guarded by D-Mac & Song; you can't tell me that Tap is either insane, or he has been instructed to tank the games as-best he see's fit.

Sick dunk by McGee. I like the look of Crit, DMac, and McGee all with Jamison, who hit a three to allow the Wizards to be up 26-20.
Wiz can take this one.

Blatche, McGee, Crittenton, Butler, and Young. Another nice lineup.

First time I've ever seen Blatche and McGee both in and both hot at the same time.

We better get the kids out of the game soon if we want to tank this one.

Jamison comes in, momentum disappears and now it's 34-40 and I JUST KNOW THE WIZARDS WILL LOSE THIS GAME AND TAPSCOTT WILL NEVER ALLOW BLATCHE AND MCGEE BACK IN TOGETHER.
Note that it's second quarter, WIZ up 6 and I know Tapscott will lose playing Jamison his minutes and trotting Songaila back out there.

Re: An Open Letter to Mark Cuban (3-7-09 Wizards vs. Mavericks)
That 1min30sec of youth basketball was the most exciting display I've seen all season.
Geez, when all the young guys were on the floor nobody was the star. They were all passing the ball having fun. Insert Jamison and then the offensive strategy is get this mutha fugga the ball so he can fadeaway a contested three ball. **** this ****. I'm so f*****g tired of this mickey mouse s**t!

Brilliant coaching job by Tap to get the vets in there in the nick of time to preserve this as a quality tank effort.

I don't want the vets on this team to say a damn thing after this game. I wouldn't be so hard on them if they didn't take every opportunity to throw the young guys under the bus and blame them for the crappy season instead of taking responsibility for their own play and recognizing that the two most important players on this team have not played this year.

Whoop whoop!! Let's hear it for Butler leading the team with 31mins coming off an injury!! Alright 11-31 shooting from our fearless allstar duo.
In other news, Blatche is 5-8, Young is 2-2 and McGee is 3-3....and all of them combined hasn't played more mins than Butler and Twan. Hear hear!!
